One of the best family oriented "All-Inclusive" hotel resort in Japan. Breakfast and dinner buffet are in the huge domed arena with so many meal choices (Japanese, western, chinese, italian, etc.). Rooms are adequate for 3 people and clean. Onsen is huge! with many types of baths and one looking down the Beppu city view from outdoor. We must have gone back to onsens three times within a couple of days because it’s so relaxing. And the indoor pool is one of the best with 4 exciting tube slides. Kids can easily divulge into it for hours. Experiences here overall was magical. For 2 adults and 1 child, the whole excursion was LESS than US$1000 : 1 night of stay (breakfast/dinner/pool entrances all included for us), over night ferry ride from Osaka (we headed from Osaka) to Beppu on the famous Sun Flower Ferry, and direct flight back from Beppu/Oita Airport to Tokyo/Haneda. Of course some incidentals here and there but no big impact. There is free shuttle from JR Beppu station every 40min. Highly recommended for those looking for outside of the regular golden triangle.

Our stay at Suginoi Resort was wonderful and very memorable. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a beautiful view that made the stay even more relaxing. The facilities were excellent, especially the onsen and family-friendly amenities. The dinner buffet had a wide variety of choices and everything was fresh and delicious, making it one of the highlights of our stay. Location was convenient and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing getaway. Staff were friendly, polite, and attentive throughout our stay. Overall, we had a very enjoyable experience and would definitely love to visit again ♨️✨

Our room was comfortable and spacious. The machine that provided drinking water in the bathroom was very convenient. We stayed in Sora Kan, which gave us access to the onsen on the top floor. It was much less crowded compared to the onsen in the main building. Apart from the onsens, there are lots of facilities in the hotel, including a game arcade, water park, and numerous activities to join. It could get very crowded in the evening though. We had buffet dinner in our building, which included a large variety of food and free alcohol. We added our pre-schooler after booking a double room and was charged a hefty sum (for meals and room sharing only without any extra bed). Other hotels we have stayed with usually just charge for the meals so I think their pricing is not very child-friendly.

I made 3 room reservations under 2 separate bookings/accounts for our stay from 20–22 December 2026. I emailed the hotel to request that we be allowed to remain in the same rooms throughout our stay, simply to avoid the inconvenience of checking in and out again. Instead, 佐藤様 proceeded to cancel one of my bookings and re-book it under my husband’s name without our consent. I then wrote back with a very straightforward question: Would the newly re-booked room still be offered at the same special rate as the booking that the hotel had cancelled? Instead of answering my question, another staff member, 山下様, replied: “We received a cancellation notice.” But that was not my question at all. It is extremely frustrating when a hotel makes changes to a reservation without the guest’s consent, and then fails to address the actual question when clarification is requested. If communicating a simple query by email is already this difficult, I can only imagine how challenging it might be to get a straightforward answer when we, as non-Japanese-speaking tourists, are actually staying at the hotel. The resort facilities and rooms may be very nice, but good communication and respect for guests’ reservations matter just as much. Unfortunately, this experience has made me decide to cancel our stay altogether.

An absolute zoo in every sense of the word...this place is like a mega city rolled into several buildings including a detached building for all the meals. The food and entertainment (bowling alley, arcade, gift shop, conbini, hot spring pools, public bath, etc.) are all housed in a separate building from the guest rooms, so depending on which of the 3 buildings your room is in, there is some walking involved within their campus. That said, they have a huge structure for parking, their breakfast and dinner menus are as immense as their campus, and they even have a Gold's Gym for those inclined to lift. Considered the 'best' hotel in the area, if you are traveling with children, this may be an option though the prices are quite high too, but be ready for crowds everywhere you go within the campus as they definitely cater to the masses. For us, for the price we paid, it was okay, and all things considered, we will not return if there is a next time.

I had stayed in this hotel a couple times. This is the first time I did not stay at the main building. There are pros and cons with this arrangement. Lesser people in a separate building but less convenience as need to walk across the road to get to the main building where the onsen and foods and items to purchases located. As far as the staff service, they are very good. For the foods, I recalled I had other dining options which I forgot to choose this time. Not too fond with the buffets foods - too standard and nothing specials.

I had a terrible experience when making a reservation online via the hotel's own website. The website states that the booking is 100% refundable if cancelled within a certain timeframe. However, when I tried to change my stay from two nights to one night, I suffered a significant rate difference of 9,000 yen. This is due to the hotel charged my credit card immediately upon making reservation, rather than simply using it to guarantee the booking. This direct charge is what caused the exchange rate loss when I re-booked. The reservation team offered no solution or compensation. Their only response was to repeatedly tell me to "check with the credit card company directly." Worse still, the reservations manager even replied that “my recent communications had placed a significant burden on our staff." This response was completely disrespectful and unhelpful. It seems that the hotel does not value overseas travelers. They were clearly aware that re-booking or cancellation would result in exchange rate losses for international guests, yet they chose not to mention this anywhere on their website. This is highly misleading. I no longer wish to stay at this hotel.
