The hotel has an excellent location, with direct access to the mall from inside the hotel, which is very convenient. The staff are wonderful, friendly, and always willing to help. There are a few areas that could be improved to make the stay even more comfortable. The rooms have carpets, which may be worth reconsidering from a hygiene and maintenance perspective, especially for hotels of this category. Also, the windows cannot be opened, so there is no opportunity to let fresh air into the room. Unfortunately, we found some hair inside a clean, folded bath towel, which was a little disappointing and suggests that housekeeping could pay closer attention to these details. Overall, we enjoyed the hotel's convenient location and the excellent service provided by the staff. With a few improvements to room hygiene and ventilation, the experience could be even better.

Our family has been staying at Shangri-La Colombo for 10 days while visiting from the United States, traveling with a toddler and an infant, and this has been one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the customer service has been exceptional. A special thank you to Kavindu Silva, Nuwan, Himalka, Pradeep and the entire team at Central, where we enjoyed breakfast every morning. They consistently made us feel welcome and regularly checked in to ensure we had everything we needed. Traveling with young children can be challenging, but the staff made it effortless. One moment that truly stood out was when our toddler made a mess while eating. Without us even asking, one of the waitresses immediately came over with a warm washcloth and gently cleaned her hands. It was such a thoughtful gesture that reflected the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. The breakfast selection is outstanding, with an incredible variety and quality. Room service has also been prompt. Every aspect of our stay has felt luxurious while still being warm and family-friendly. We have stayed at several luxury hotels throughout Sri Lanka, but none have matched the exceptional experience we’ve had at Shangri-La Colombo. Choosing to spend our 10-day stay here was one of the best decisions we made, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thank you to the entire Shangri-La Colombo team for making our family vacation so memorable. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for world-class hospitality in Colombo.

Fantastic hotel in an unbeatable location in Colombo. Easy access to everything the city has to offer, right on the water. The property itself is polished, well-maintained, and exactly what you'd expect from the Shangri-La name. What really made the stay special was the service. A huge shout out to the Club Lounge team — Tharaka, Gerthma, and Satchathin went above and beyond throughout my stay, always attentive, warm, and quick to anticipate what I needed. That kind of genuine hospitality makes a real difference and turned a great hotel into a memorable one. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Colombo, whether for business or leisure. Will definitely be back.

I had a wonderful 8 night stay. Felt like a second home and everything was made perfect by the very attentive staff at the hotel. The food was delicious, service was excellent and everyone wanted to make us feel comfortable. No request was too much for them and was attended to with enthusiasm. I am writing a glowing review because my experience was truly that. Once I saw past the ageing carpets in the room, everything else was perfect, the marble bathroom and decor was rich and the toiletries from Spa Ceylon were fabulous. All amenities were replenished plenty and hotel provided so much of bottled water. Room and hotel was very clean and quiet. The food was delicious and after 7 breakfasts, there was still plenty of variety to keep me still interested (usually I get fed up with hotel breakfast after 3rd day). There was local as well as multiple international cuisines to satisfy any foodie. Chef Nuwan’s cuttlefish and prawns curries were so delicious and Dinushka in main restaurant went out of their way to cater to us. Horizon Lounge was superb, and Dinesh and his staff were always trying their best to keep us happy. Hats off to them. The view from the Horizon lounge is just breathtaking. Overall, it was a lovely experience in a beautiful hotel in Colombo, where there was personalised service (not just another guest). Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner treat! ❤️ At Central Restaurant What made the experience truly special was the warm welcome from the staff, their excellent service, and the way they looked after us throughout our visit. The food was absolutely delicious, too! Wr had an amazing dining experience here. 🥰 A special mention to Himalk, who provided outstanding service and was always there with a pleasant attitude and a Nice smile.😊 Thank you for making birthday dinner so memorable💙 Highly recommended! 🌟

We had a wonderful stay at the Shangri-La Colombo in room 1813 from 8th-10th June on bed and breakfast basis. Our room was very well equipped, clean and well positioned. The only things that I would have appreciated extra would be a coffee machine and a full length mirror. We ate all of our meals at the hotel and every dish we had was fresh and delicious. Breakfast and the buffet dinner were excellent with a huge variety to suit all tastes. We also had a meal in Shang Palace, which was exceptional, with huge portions! We had treatments at the spa, which were fantastic. Again the spa was spotlessly clean with all required amenities and the treatments were faultless. The standout point of this hotel is the staff. Without exception every member of from the reception, Concierge, waiting staff, housekeeping, spa, front of hotel, were professional, at the same time warm, friendly and welcoming. A special shout out to the guys at Capital Bar- we had such fun in there and they even have me the opportunity to make my own cocktail, which was such fun. I wish we could mention them all by name but I'd hate to leave anyone out. Thanks so much team Shangri-La Colombo - we've adored staring our Sri Lanka trip with you ❤️

We recently visited the dinner buffet at Shangri-La Colombo after seeing mixed reviews on TikTok saying the food wasn’t good, but our experience was completely different. From the moment we arrived, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The front office team and buffet staff spoke nicely to us and even helped take photos, which made the experience feel very warm and personal. The buffet had a huge spread with many meat options and a wide variety of dishes. The food was surprisingly delicious and well prepared, much better than what we expected from online reviews. Staff treated all guests equally and were very respectful and friendly throughout. The dessert section wasn’t very large, but what was available was tasty. They also had handmade chocolates, but I personally didn’t enjoy them much as they tasted more like local-style chocolate. However, one downside was the parking. Even though we spent for the buffet (around 18,400 LKR), we were only given a 3-hour parking card and later had to pay an additional 600 LKR after exceeding the limit. For a premium buffet experience, this felt a bit disappointing. Overall, apart from the parking issue, it was still a really good experience with great food, friendly service, and a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth trying despite the mixed reviews online.

This is the best hotel we have stayed in, and we've stayed in loads over the years. The hotel is immaculate, has beautiful decor, and comfortable lounges/bars where you can relax with a coffee or a cocktail. The pool area is clean and towels are provided. The rooms are huge and quiet. The food at breakfast, lunch and evening is unbelievable. So much choice, perfectly prepared and so much of it. But most of all the staff make this hotel the best. They are all charming, and will bend over backwards to ensure you have everything you could possibly need. They are happy and courteous, and are eager to share their knowledge with you. I have to particularly mention Pasan in the restaurant, who came over to our table to ask if we were happy with our breakfast. He stayed to tell us about the hotel, the restaurant and about Colombo. Such a charming young man.
