The location solves the main problem with Dubrovnik: the Old Town is beautiful and completely unlivable as a base. Lapad is quiet, there's a bus stop a minute from the door, and you're in the Old Town in ten minutes. Best of both. Airport logistics are also easy from here. The Gruz bus station is a short distance away, which is where the airport bus runs. Bolt or Uber is €6-8, or you can walk it in 30-40 minutes. We booked the larger room on the third floor and it's the right call. Spacious, windows facing the hill and the marina, and the building is only a few years old so everything still feels fresh and well-kept. The property has a jacuzzi and back porch too. Watching the sun set over Gruz Harbor from this side of the water is something you won't get from the usual tourist vantage points, and it doesn't get old. Small thing worth mentioning: there's complimentary coffee and tea on the main floor if you run out of what's in the room. Not a big deal until you want a second cup at 7am and it really is. Lucia Vesna at reception is genuinely attentive in the best way. Our airport bus was in the evening and she let us store our bags after checkout so we could spend the day walking around and come back when we were ready. It's the kind of thoughtfulness that sticks with you. Great value and a stay we genuinely enjoyed. We're going back.

We loved their hospitality the rooms are tidy and spacious enough and the instant coffee is our fav from the stay.. there is a jacuzzi next to the building.. and the receptionist Vesna is very great with the communication about the bus stops(which is very confusing for the first timers) and all our questions.. However, when it comes to the location I don’t think it’s the ideal one if your commute is by public bus(which runs hourly in that area) and within a fixed time slot of the day otherwise beaches, boat rides and central bus station are within 2kms radius!

We booked kala when looking for a reasonably priced place for 4 nights in Dubrovnik and were so happy with the quality of the stay. The location for us was perfect, just off the harbour with a good selection of bars/restaurants to choose from on the same street, easy reach of old town on a 10 minute bus ride which is regular, although did get busy at peak times, and 10/15 minute walk to lapad beach. The rooms were clearly new, in perfect condition and renovated to a good quality standard. Was spotlessly cleaned and restocked every day. Reception staff were helpful (it’s not staffed all day but easy to reach staff on mobile number provided). The hot tub was turned down to cool in the hot weather making a perfect little spot to relax behind the hotel. Also a lovely pool bar 2 minute walk on the harbour where for the price of a drink you can use the pool, or hire sunbeds for the day. Would recommend the kala rooms and stay again if in Dubrovnik.

My experience here was absolutely incredible! Vesna especially was very welcoming and hospitable, taking the time to truly help and accommodate my stay. I even left my door unlocked accidentally and received a notification from her that one of the guest ever so kindly brought to her attention. Everything was still in tact and there! Beautiful area, convenient location along with many helpful things for guest. I will definitely be back!

I recently stayed at KALA and had an outstanding experience. The location is unbeatable, just a 3-minute walk to the bus station, which made getting around incredibly convenient. The historic center (Stari Grad) is only a 15-minute bus ride away, allowing easy access to explore the city's rich history and vibrant culture. The rooms are luxurious, providing a comfortable and elegant atmosphere. One of the highlights was the outdoor jacuzzi, which added a touch of relaxation and indulgence to the stay. Ezra was great . She was very attentive and responded quickly . Rooms are clean . Many restaurants close by . It’s a little far from the pile gate and old town , around 35 to 30 minutes walk . Bus stop is like 5 minutes away. It’s a quiet area but not the rooms. You would hear every thing including the foot steps. But to be fair Ezra warn me that first floor rooms are very noisy . Mattres was a little little hard , but I guess that’s just a personal preference.
