Very disappointing experience. We reserved parking and when we arrived were told it is no longer available after the change of ownership and had to use the park and ride into the city, this wasn’t suggested, but were told either park on street that was very expensive and the other option was €20 per night, where they’d park the car at another location and have no access to it for the duration of our stay. The hotel and rooms are in a very poor condition, which is a shame for such a nice building. It is in serious need of a renovation. It’s seems like it’s been left to decay, the rooms have mould, rotting windows frames, missing and dead light bulbs, a leaking roof where a bucket is left to collect the water and the bathroom had a missing TOLIET SEAT! The rooms have little sound insulation, so no good if you’re a light sleeper. The halls are very dark, we had to use the light on our phones to see. This is not a boutique hotel and is very overpriced at almost €150 per night. The two girls who worked there were pleasant, it’s shame they have to deal with multiple complaint’s every day. The only other guests I saw were complaining. The breakfast was good enough but overpriced at €20. I will be staying elsewhere on my next visit to Ghent.

I want to be clear that I completely understand that this is an older property and as such, it will have its issues. Some may see these as charming, others might see them as concerns. With that here is our review. The lobby was under renovation, the bar noted on the website is nonexistent, and the garden was not accessible as well. Check in was smooth. The individual who checked us in was lovely. She collected the city tax and showed us to our room. The first thing we noticed was that every stair creaked. Not one or two, not some, but every freaking one. When we got to our room, which was billed as an upgrade, the creaking continued. Every step made noise. So much so that we felt badly just simply walking round in our room. Getting up to use the restroom meant waking up your partner and most likely anyone in an adjoining room. It honestly gave me anxiety to move around as we felt badly making so much noise. Day one we noticed that the WiFi was out in our room. No connection point existed. When we went back to the lobby and inquired about it we were told that the internet for the city was down (?). And that it might be back up that afternoon. This was a Friday. Saturday still out. We asked and were told it was out and that they would be coming Tuesday to fix it. We don’t have a local phone plan and we were expecting to be able to plan activities, purchase tickets, and generally use the internet for our trip. Not having access for the majority of our stay was definitely an issue. The male front desk employee was, at best, somewhat brusk with us. It may have been a language issue, but his words almost felt condescending. The breakfast buffet was amazing. The food selection was vast and we really enjoyed it for the time we stayed. In the end we ended up checking out two nights early and booked another hotel so that we could get a good nights sleep and have internet access to plan the rest of our stay in Ghent.

The address of the hotel is not easy to find. Building itself is too old

Old hotel with lots of charm. Super friendly staff and a very strong young man who carried our suitcases up to the second floor. Room was clean and spacious. Bathroom however could do with an upgrade. Room was cleaned daily.|Breakfast was delicious and offered lots of options. |Hotel not situated mid town but we loved walking into town and did not find this a problem at all. Public transport available close by as well.

We were in a party of 6 people staying in 3 rooms. Our room didn't have air conditioning. There was nowhere convenient to plug in the kettle and the tv didn't work. The bedrooms have character but our furniture was in need of repair. The breakfast was ok. The wifi only works on the lower floors. There was no shampoo in one of the rooms and another room didn't have a toilet seat. We asked for these matters to be corrected but this annoyed the manager and he told us we had to leave the hotel and not stay for our already booked second night. There was a leak in the roof on our landing and there were buckets on the floor to collect the drips. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

When I arrived at the hotel the day of my reservation, the front door was locked and no one answered the door or the phone. I eventually found someone working there outside who said it was currently closed and my reservation should have been cancelled. He showed me the contact on his phone of someone named Domani and said to contact him (turns out it was the same number as the hotel's number on Orbitz). I booked through Orbitz so I contacted them immediately, and they were unable to get ahold of the hotel after repeated attempts. Orbitz submitted a refund request on my behalf, which the hotel DENIED. It has been almost 2 months and they have still be unresponsive. I am out several hundred dollars for a stay that I never received. On top of that I had to find last-minute accommodation elsewhere. Book here at your own risk.

BED BUGS! — AND A SHOCKING LACK OF CONCERN When I arrived at the hotel, I found bed bugs in my room. I immediately reported it to reception, but without inspecting the room or checking the insects, they simply told me they were ants and insisted that bed bugs were “impossible.” I understand that the staff may have been busy, but this is a serious health and hygiene issue that should have been investigated immediately. Despite my insistence, nobody took my concerns seriously or even came to inspect the room. I immediately requested to cancel my booking, but they refused. Their only proposed solution was to move me to a room that was much smaller and completely different from the one I had booked, with no discount, refund, or compensation... Because of the hotel’s complete lack of empathy and concern, I had to find alternative accommodation at the last minute and lost the full cost of my reservation. The way this situation was handled was completely unacceptable. A hotel should never dismiss such a serious complaint without even checking the room.

Terrible reception service. The girl when I arrived was super polite, but the guy in the afternoon has ZERO skills for such a job. After he saw my review here he cancelled my reservation and I had to look for a new hotel.
