In a city steeped in history, the NH Collection Gent, formerly NH Gent Belfort, pairs Ghent’s heritage with a polished Belgian modern touch. The hotel sits in the heart of the city, right next to the Belfry, a 14th-century bell tower that stands as a lasting emblem of Ghent’s independence. Within a few blocks, you can walk to the Stadhuis, the medieval Gravensteen castle, Korenmarkt, and Graslei Harbor. Performing arts venues, Saint Bavo’s Cathedral, the Baroque Saint Nicholas Church, and Huis van Alijn are also close by. For longer trips, the Gent Korenmarkt station puts the city’s tramway network within easy reach. Gent Dampoort and Gent Sint Pieters train stations are nearby as well.

The hotel blends classic and contemporary style across 174 inviting rooms. Choices include standard, standard new-style, superior, and Suite rooms, some with views. The Belfry is a 2-minute walk away, St Bavo’s Cathedral the same, and the graffiti street is just 1 minute on foot. St Michael’s Bridge takes 4 minutes to reach, and the Castle of the Counts is 5 minutes away.

Waffles and pancakes are the stars of the hotel’s generous breakfast buffet. At the Van Artevelde restaurant, lunch and dinner bring international dishes, while the lobby bar offers a range of Belgian beers and cocktails. Ten rooms can be booked for meetings, events, or wedding receptions, with space for up to 400 guests.

A very stylish and modern hotel right in the center of Ghent. The lobby and room interiors feel elegant and cozy, with warm lighting, a very comfortable bed, and plenty of pillows. Room 407 was spacious, quiet, and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The shower had an excellent water system and was very convenient to use. The breakfast deserves a special mention. Honestly, it was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had while traveling around Europe. A large selection of fresh and truly sweet fruits, fresh juices, plenty of desserts, and the option to order egg dishes separately. Everything looked fresh and high quality. The hotel also offers convenient parking for 30 euros. Our room with breakfast cost around 205 euros, and overall we were very happy with the stay. A couple of small downsides: the door latch occasionally got stuck, so the door would not close properly until it was adjusted by hand. We also noticed a stain on one of the towels. Other than that, this is a very pleasant and stylish hotel that we would happily return to.

Impossible to Sleep Due to a Nightclub Beneath the Hotel Directly beneath the hotel, there is a nightclub that operates from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. on weekends, making it virtually impossible to get any sleep. At 2:30 a.m., we called reception to ask if we could change rooms, but we were told that the hotel was fully booked. During that conversation, the receptionist also acknowledged that this was not the first time guests had complained about the noise, confirming that the hotel is fully aware of the situation. The fact that complimentary earplugs are provided in the rooms further demonstrates that this is a known issue. Unfortunately, they are nowhere near enough to deal with the level of noise. Selling these rooms while being fully aware of the problem demonstrates a shocking lack of sensitivity, empathy, and respect for your guests. It undoubtedly damages NH’s reputation and undermines the values the brand claims to stand for Oh, and one more thing! Right next to the room there is also a freight elevator that makes a lot of noise and starts operating early in the morning… just in case anyone at this hotel was actually hoping to get some sleep. The whole experience was a complete disaster. Thankfully, we only had to stay for one night.

We had a really nice stay, the room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. We only interacted with the front desk during check in and checkout, but they were very friendly. The lobby looks grand. There was free fruits, coffee, and water in the lobby. We felt it was worth the price we paid.

The hotel is very conveniently located, with easy access from the station via tram lines T1 or T3 followed by a short walk. We were pleased to be able to check in early, which was much appreciated. We stayed for two nights. As we did not have breakfast at the hotel, I cannot comment on that aspect. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. One minor drawback was the limited natural light, as the window felt quite small in proportion to the size of the room. The hotel also has a pleasant viewing area for watching football and other sporting events. A small touch that would have enhanced the stay would have been providing two bottles of water in the room, as there were two guests and the complimentary bottles were quite small. There are also a few maintenance issues that could be addressed. In our room, a switch cover was missing, leaving the wiring and electrical components exposed, which should be attended to for both safety and presentation. Overall, however, the stay was comfortable and the location is a real strength of the property

The room was very spacious and comfortable, and everything was clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and the breakfast was very good with plenty of options. The location was excellent and made it easy to explore the city. The only downside was that there was no air conditioning, and the heat at night was unbearable, making it difficult to sleep. The hotel could also benefit from a renovation, as the room décor feels quite dated.

This was one of the nicest, budget friendly hotels we have been able to enjoy. The staff was very kind and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very enjoyable and clean, with very good food choices. The beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were very clean, and the showers were wonderful. The location was right in the city center with a beautiful, historic church right out the front door. It was farther from the main train station than we normally like, however the fees we very acceptable for a taxi and the staff was very helpful in making the calls for taxis. We were so happy with this hotel we will be making it a priority to book our stays in a NH Collection as we continue to travel thru Europe.
