Great location, everything can be reached by foot. About 15 minutes from the Ghent main station, easily reachable by public transport. The hotel has some cool amenities like a sauna, gym and swimming pool. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast could be better. Will recommend it for the very convenient location and good rooms.

As you can see from the photo there is a swimming pool at the hotel the only outside one in Ghent I believe. There is a lovely terrace there and we do enjoy a drink on it. However, this time we were greeted by the Corona Beach! Sand had been put all over the terrace with deck chairs and other seating there with parasols and deckchairs around the pool everyone was having a great time the children and adults really enjoying it. We had arrived very early having only travelled a short distance so we had a drink and joined in the fun. This was in the heatwave so most welcome. We had a very warm welcome from the lovely Serda. We had a lovely room which was air conditioned but a fan installed to add additional cooling. This is a vey central hotel a short walk to the cathedral and the Friday market. A short walk the other way takes you to a lovely square where you can but their local mustard, chocolates and cuberdons. There is a tiny bar inside with much bigger outside seating called the t'galgehuis (hanging house!) take a walk then over the bridge where you will find the castle. By this you can see that this is a great hotel to base your holiday. We thought we were going to miss the wonderful Waal but he came back from his holidays before we left. All the staff are lovely and it if very clean. We love it.

The rooms are outdated, shabby, noisy and had no working AC (it was 30 degrees). The room also has no lock or chain which made me feel unsafe as a solo traveller. I’m sure they get plenty of business due to location and will not change but I won’t be staying here again.

We stayed one night in two rooms for our family (2 adults and 3 children) and, unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience, especially after paying over €450 for one night. As an ALL Accor Gold member, I honestly expected much better from a Novotel. The hotel's website says the rooms have air conditioning, but ours didn't. There was only a small table fan, and almost no cool air came from the ventilation. The rooms were far too hot, and none of us slept well. The rooms also weren't cleaned properly. There was a lot of dust near the ceiling, and we even found a large spider. We tried changing rooms but they were all the same (dated, no a/c) What disappointed me the most is that I emailed the hotel on 17-July to give them the chance to address these issues before leaving a public review. More than two weeks later, I still haven't received any response. It's not just the poor room conditions that left a bad impression, but also the complete lack of customer care afterwards. Sadly, this was not the standard I expect from Novotel or Accor.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. It's wonderful, with a fantastic location, a comfortable room, an excellent breakfast, and a refreshing pool, which was very welcome since we arrived in Ghent on a hot day. The rooms are noticeably a bit tired, but we were told the hotel will be renovating next year. But I'd especially like to commend the staff! They're incredibly attentive and will do everything they can to ensure you have a wonderful and enjoyable stay. I'd especially like to mention that Serda upgraded our room upon check-in, so we could admire the cathedral from our room! She was also incredibly kind and very welcoming! The hotel even extended our stay by a few hours thanks to her—a huge thank you! We highly recommend this hotel, and we thank the hotel management for selecting such wonderful and competent staff!

Stayed 13–14 June 2026 My wife and I had an amazing stay at Novotel Gent. From the moment we arrived, Renata at reception made us feel very welcome. She was friendly, polite, professional, and always smiling. Her warm attitude set the tone for a fantastic stay. Thanks to my ALL membership status, we were fortunate to receive a room upgrade, which was greatly appreciated. The Executive Room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely view over the city. The only minor downside was that some of the furniture felt a little dated, but this did not affect our overall comfort. The hotel’s location is outstanding, right in the heart of Ghent, making it perfect for exploring the city. If you’re arriving by car, as we did, you may be lucky enough to secure one of the hotel’s limited parking spaces (around 20 spots). Alternatively, the nearby city parking garage was actually cheaper for our stay and only about a 5-minute walk from the hotel. For guests with a lot of luggage, the hotel can make things even easier. Simply contact them in advance with your license plate number, and you’ll be allowed to enter the historic city center to unload directly in front of the hotel. Overall, it was a perfect experience. The staff were excellent, especially Renata, the location couldn’t be better, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 stars.

Extremely disappointing stay. The biggest issue was the air conditioning, which simply did not work. Instead of cooling the room, it blew stale, lukewarm air. The small table fan provided in the room actually produced cooler air than the hotel's air conditioning system. The room temperature was over 30°C, making it almost impossible to sleep. I barely got any rest during the night, and what should have been a relaxing stay turned into a very uncomfortable experience. In 2026, having a functioning air conditioner is a basic expectation for any hotel. A fan is not an acceptable replacement when temperatures are this high. A good night's sleep is one of the main reasons people book a hotel, and unfortunately, that was impossible here. The only redeeming feature was the swimming pool. Without it, this stay would have been a complete disaster. I sincerely hope the hotel fixes this issue, because until then, I cannot recommend staying here during warm weather.

Lovely hotel in a fabulous location right in the city centre. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice outdoor bar and a small pool. A little dated now and the aircon was struggling in the recent heatwave but we had a fan in the room which helped.
