City Comfort Inn Hotel (Guilin Quanzhou Central Square)

The best time to visit is October, with mild 27°/18°C days, only 6 rain days, and lower humidity. September is also pleasant, with 11 rain days and clear skies. Avoid June, the rainiest month with 26 rain days, and July and August, which are hot and humid. Spring months like March and April are warm but wet, with over 20 rain days each.

Stay in the city center near Jiefang East Avenue or Zhongshan Road for easy access to the Rongshanhu Scenic Area and the railway station; the Guilin Goo Hotel and Sapphire Hotel are there. For a quieter riverside base, Yangshuo's West Street area suits travelers who want the Li River and countryside nearby, with the Yangshuo Yitian West Street Hotel as an option. Fuli Ancient Town, home to the Banyan Tree Yangshuo Hotel, offers a more scenic, relaxed setting along the river.

Guilin Rongshanhu Scenic Area is the top sight, with its lakes, pagodas, and bridges best seen on an evening stroll. The Li River offers classic karst scenery, best enjoyed on a boat trip. Reed Flute Cave is known for its colorful limestone formations. Xianggong Hill provides a panoramic view of the river and peaks. Yangshuo's countryside, including the Yulong River, is ideal for hiking and bamboo boat rides.

Take a day trip to the Longji Rice Terraces to see the layered hillside paddies and minority villages. Another option is the Li River, where you can cruise past karst peaks, or head to Yangshuo for the Yulong River and countryside hiking. Xingping and Xianggong Hill offer classic river views.

Plan 3 to 4 days in Guilin. In 2 days, see Guilin Rongshanhu Scenic Area and take a Li River cruise to Yangshuo. Add a third day for the Longji Rice Terraces and minority villages, or for hiking the Yulong River and Yangshuo countryside. If you want to include both the terraces and a full Yangshuo day, allow 4 days. A day trip to Longji or Yangshuo needs an extra day beyond your city sightseeing.
