Frequently asked questions about Ho Chi Minh City

When is the best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City?

The best time to visit is from December to February, when rain is scarce and temperatures are milder, with highs around 31-34°C. March and April are hotter and drier, but April starts the wet season. The rainiest stretch runs from May through October, with frequent downpours and high humidity. November is a transition month with fewer rain days, making it a decent shoulder option.

Which area should I stay in in Ho Chi Minh City?

District 1 is the central hub, ideal for first-timers and those wanting easy access to landmarks like Ben Thanh Market and Bui Vien Walking Street. District 3, just north, offers a quieter, more local feel with tree-lined streets and cafes. For a more residential stay, District 2's An Phu area suits families and longer visits. Tân Bình is convenient for its proximity to the airport, though it's less central.

What are the must-see attractions in Ho Chi Minh City?

Start at Ben Thanh Market for its lively stalls and local goods. Independence Palace offers a look at 20th-century history, while the War Remnants Museum provides a sobering view of the Vietnam War. Saigon Zoo & Botanical Gardens is a green escape in the city. Bui Vien Walking Street is the place for evening energy, and Cu Chi Tunnel shows wartime underground life.

What day trips can I take from Ho Chi Minh City?

Cu Chi Tunnels are a network of wartime tunnels you can explore. The Mekong Delta offers river life, floating markets, and coconut villages. Vam Sat Mangrove Forest is a wetland reserve with wildlife and boat rides. These are the main full-day trips from the city.

How many days do I need in Ho Chi Minh City?

Plan 3 to 4 days. In 3 days, see Ben Thanh Market, Independence Palace, War Remnants Museum, and Saigon Zoo & Botanical Gardens, plus a walk on Bui Vien Walking Street. Add a fourth day for a day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels or Mekong Delta, which needs an extra day beyond the city sights.

This is our 5th stay in this property and each time we felt like we were coming home after the first visit. The staff were all excellent - from the bell staff to front desk to cafe to housekeeping - they delivered all their work with excellence and spoke great English! Thank you Thu, Ming and especially the three bell front staff! For this stay we were with 7 other people and all had high praises for the staff, property especially room layout (so roomy and soooo clean esp the white crisp bedsheets n fluffy towels!) Location was also first rate as close to D1 and walking distance to many good restaurants and a big supermarket. Highly recommended!👍🏼👏🏼👍🏼 We won’t be staying anywhere else in HCMC n look forward to our next stay!❤️❤️

Friendly and attentive staffs made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The room was spacious and well-appointed, and having a washing machine and dryer in the room was a huge convenience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would gladly return.

I completed my stay here at Sherwood Suites. I booked a studio. I really enjoyed my stay here. As the staff here were extremely well trained in customer service. And the staff here all maintain high levels of English proficiency with is beneficial for me when interacting with them. The room I was was very nice I enjoyed the space filled with everything I need as I made good use of the washer/dryer here and I enjoyed the gym here as all of the equipment here is up to date. And the sauna and steam room here are very nice as well. The staff here were very accommodating as I asked for an umbrella during my stay and they provided me with one. I also enjoyed the breakfast service here as I would normally eat the fruit serviced here as all of it very delicious and high quality. I also enjoyed the Al a carte options provided here. As the dishes/drinks were all excellent in flavor and came out in great timing. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone that wants to be near the busy that is D1 HCMC. As this place is in D3 which is nice as it much calmer/peaceful compared to D1 HCMC. I would happily stay here again. As I close out this review I would like to thank Truong, Quan, and Quang for their high level of service/support during my stay here. Attached also is the shuttle service here and some of the food and drinks that I enjoyed during my stay.

If you are wanting elegance and comfort combined for a hotel stay then I recommend this lovely choice. We were greeted warmly and given welcome drinks of juice. All hotel employees are well trained to offer excellent customer service (tourist ideas: restaurant suggestions, tours, shows, transportation, etc). The suite was a perfect size for our stay. It had a washer and drier which was very helpful after being caught in a rain storm. The hotel loaned us a drying rack too.

Excellent hotel. The service was astounding and the staff were very accommodating. Great location. Extremely comfortable and quite. Couldn't hear any other guests our outside noise. The in-room washer and dryer was especially useful during out extended stay in Vietnam. Would absolutely stay here again.

We have been staying at the Sherwood Suites over the last week, and we are staying here another week, and I can say that this hotel is FANTASTIC. This is my third time in HCM, and Sherwood Suites has been the best hotel experience we have had. It’s a serviced apartment, which is quite nice, as we have a full kitchen, a beautiful bathroom suite, plenty of storage and very comfortable beds, along with an amazing pool, a fun kids room for the kiddo, and a clean gym. Service is top notch, and Du / Andy has been great as our housekeeper, checking in daily to see if we need any trash collection / new towels or sheets / etc. Sherwood Suites definitely deserves its 5-star rating, and is worth every dollar for the quality of stay.

Had a wonderful 3D2N stay at Sherwood Suites Saigon. The rooms were modern, spacious, and very comfortable, making the stay feel relaxing from the moment we arrived. The gym and pool were also very nice, clean, and well maintained. A special mention to the staff, who were always polite, professional, and welcoming throughout our stay. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, and I would definitely love to come back again. Highly recommended!
