We stayed at this hotel for five nights. The location is beautiful, the hotel is practically right on the beach, and we had a wonderful view from our room. Unfortunately, in our opinion, the hotel is not worth the price and does not deserve its four-star rating. The rooms are very small and dated, there was mold on our wall, and the balcony had dirty plastic chairs. There was also a strange musty, moldy smell in the lobby area in front of the dining room, which was quite unpleasant. The breakfast was also very average. The staff were not particularly welcoming overall. At check-out, we were barely asked how our stay had been, which was disappointing for a hotel of this standard. The exception was a young lady working at the beach bar, who was absolutely wonderful - very friendly, professional, and attentive. If this were a three-star hotel with a lower room rate, I would consider it a good option. However, for the price and the advertised four-star standard, I expected much more. It has great potential, however it shows lack of investment in the property and attention to details.

Fantastic hotel in great location. The rooms were well appointed, comfortable, and clean. Our sea view was amazing. Easy access for|swimming in the sea or pool. Friendly and accommodating staff. Nice breakfast each morning that was included.

Amazing location with incredible views. The hotel is peaceful, comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. I recommend renting a car because the hotel is a little far from the town center, but overall it was a great experience and I would definitely come back.

Beautiful location but a bit rough around the edges. Rooms were quite small and could use fresh coat of paint. Some staff were friendly and a few were rude. |Amazing view of the Mediterranean but room never cooled down with the AC on. Lunch at the restaurant was expensive and didn’t taste great. Dinner on the other hand was fabulous. Beach towel policy was absurd . Especially given I never once saw anyone at the towel station and had to hunt down towels to use at the waters edge. Beach chairs were very worn down. Quiet location but about 30 minute walk into town and not much else nearby in terms of food options.

We had a amazing stay at Hotel Podstine. The staff was extremely helpful with a birthday celebration and help us prep the room. The breakfast was extremely fresh and great. Highly recommend a stay here if you visit Hvar.

My partner and I are a young couple and we visited Hvar and stayed in Hotel Podstine for a week at the start of June. We found the staff who work at reception to be lovely however the bar staff in particular were extremely rude and dismissive and upon talking to other guests this appeared to be a very common experience. The room itself had an amazing view and had what you’d need however is a bit outdated but we did expect that from the photos. The breakfast included was ok, it tasted good but it’s very limited in terms of what they have. The hotels about a 20 minute walk from Hvar centre but the walk was very picturesque and enjoyable. The access to the sea and small dock for our boat to collect us from was lovely. The hotels atmosphere was nice and calm with it being a relatively small hotel. Overall, it was good for what we wanted and was also a good price for a week in Hvar.

So this is a strange place some good, some bad. There was a general cheapness about the hotel, no instant coffee, mediocre breakfast, Tito - communist- styled bathrooms and most seriously NO umbrellas by the sea seats. How is that possible? However, our sea view room - with the prison bathroom- was pretty and large and most importantly nothing will beat jumping into the Adriatic off the hotel’s dock.

I would have given this a 5 star review except for the fact that we were asked if we wanted to leave a tip at checkout on our entire hotel bill including the meals that we had on site and had already tipped our waiters for. I've never seen anything like that and the "no tip" option was hidden and in Croatian. We left tip in our room for housekeeping so I wasn't sure who this general tip would go to. Tip to management: have more options for the beachside menu. We were told anything not on the beachside menu would require us to sit down at the restaurant just a few meters away instead of on our sunbeds. Also, a more affordable dessert option (a scoop of ice cream or slice of cake) would I think lead to more people ordering dessert compared to charging a minimum $21 euro for deconstructed tiramisu. We didn't seen anyone order dessert given the wild price. Overall, the place was great, I just wanted to leave this as constructive feedback since I've never encountered tipping at check out.
