Perfect location. Excellent instructions sent via WhatsApp from the host on how to enter the building and do self check in. It's a ten minute walk from Lucca train station and Google maps got us literally to the door with no problems. Room was spotless. Bit of confusion around room tax which was cleared up when queried (we were here for 2 nights they initially asked us for 3 nights payment). Bed was comfy but very squeaky 🫠. Air conditioning worked but very noisy. Shower tray kept becoming full with water which wasn't the end of the world but annoying. Excellent price overall and would definitely stay again though.

We had a very enjoyable stay at At Home Bed and Breakfast. Marco, the host. was kind, helpful, and accommodating. Our room was clean and spacious with a nice bathroom and air conditioning. The breakfast was simple and nice- warm croissant, bread, cheese, yogurt, coffee. The location at the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro was very convenient and quiet even with our window facing the lively piazza. Yes, there are stairs to climb as the b&b is on the top floor, but it is really not so bad for anyone who does not have trouble walking.

Great B&B close to the fun. Our room was very impressive; large with great decorating in a really old building. Many medieval stairs to climb but worth it! The owner Marco and his assistant Vanya were super nice and very helpful. The breakfast was outstanding, Vanya bakes the best croissants ever!! Would stay again if we return to Lucca!

My wife and I stayed at Michael’s ‘At Home Bed and Breakfast in the centre of the old town in Lucca. People may laugh at the title of my review, however having been told by a hotel receptionist in Edinburgh that at 62 both my wife and I were fit enough to carry our own bags, the contrast was phenomenal. While I initially took the Edinburgh comment as a compliment, when I heard the same receptionist volunteer to carry the bags of two young French ladies, this statement said it all. For more info on our Edinburgh experience check my reviews for May 2019. Michael’s friendly, can do attitude, is so positive that you know, even if there is an issue, it will be solved. Our room was on the top floor with some 50+ steps between the street and the door. Other rooms obviously have less steps. However if you are reasonably fit this should not present an issue. Upon meeting Michael at the front door, like a gentleman, he grabbed my wife’s bag before returning for mine. Our room was spotlessly clean with a small fridge, generous size bathroom and comfortable kingsize bed. Breakfast was simple but ideal to start the day. Again Michael’s barista skills were genuinely appreciated. So if you are looking for a wonderfully friendly, well appointed, value for money, in a great central location in Lucca, you should seriously consider the At Home Bed and Breakfast.

We stayed two nights in a room with a fantastic view over the Piazza Anfiteatro. It was exactly what we wanted - excellent location, spotlessly clean, good breakfast, very reasonably priced. Marco who runs it is great - friendly but very professional. We had some exchanges of email before we arrived about how to get to the B&B and parking and he responded very quickly. We could not fault it. The only things to be aware of are that if you have mobility issues there are a lot of stairs (but Marco will carry your bags) and if you have a car you cannot park it at the property (but this is not unusual in an Italian Centro Storico and Marco will tell you where to park free of charge approx. 7 mins from the property on foot. You can drop your bags at the property with the car before going to park)

At Home Bed and Breakfast is located in a beautiful piazza at the heart of Lucca, with great views of the piazza and close to a wide range of restaurants, plus all the lovely shops on the main street. Breakfast was delicious, including real Italian coffee! Marco and his colleagues were also extremely helpful and kind, making our stay just perfect. We had the king suite and it was amazing. A large apartment with a spacious double room, ensuite toilet and a large kitchen and living room overlooking the piazza. The ceilings showed the original beams, which made the apartment really charming! I can highly recommend At Home Bed & Breakfast when you visit Lucca! Paula

We spent four nights in Lucca at this wonderful place and could not have been more pleased. We booked two rooms for two couples and was placed in their annex. We only had to leave the front door and turn directly into the main piazza of Old Lucca with all its wonderful restaurants. Everything we wished to do was very easily attended close by this accommodation. The rooms were a decent size with very good amenities. Breakfast was included and provided a very good selection. The proprietor Michael was also very friendly and helpful and spoke English very well.

We were lucky to get a room here when our reservation at a nearby B&B was lost and we had nowhere to stay. Marco had a perfect room for us at a great price. We stayed in the apartment across the small street from the main inn. We stay in a lot of VRBO rental apartments and this was very similar. We had a living room, separate bedroom, kitchen and large bathroom with a washing machine. It seemed like we were the only people in the building. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. There were only 20 steps to reach the apartment. We bought milk, cereal, coffee and bananas so we could enjoy breakfast in the room rather than climb the 60 stairs to the included breakfast. If you prefer to stay in typical hotels or B&Bs, this room may not be for you. But independent travelers like us will love it.
