Absolutely loved my 1 night stay in B&B Arena. It's a 2 minute walk to the main piazza and had a stunning view of it from my room. Great room and amenities, and will 100% stay here again when I come back to Lucca. Beautiful breakfast in a nearby cafe. Host was super friendly. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

We had a wonderful stay in Lucca! Monica was super kind and welcoming. The room was excellent, with a beautiful view of the Piazza dell’Anfiteatro. Comfortable bed, very good shower, and air conditioning that made the stay even better. The location couldn’t be more perfect.Tip for future guests: park your car at Parcheggio Mazzini (near Porta Santa Maria).Grazie Monica! 🌟

I recently stayed at this charming Airbnb overlooking the Roman arena in Lucca, Tuscany, and it was an unforgettable experience. The location was absolutely perfect—just steps away from the historic site, allowing me to soak in the beauty of this ancient architecture right from my window. The apartment itself was cozy and well-appointed, featuring rustic decor that highlighted the building's history while providing all the modern amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The host was incredibly welcoming, offering great local tips and ensuring I had everything I needed. In the evening I enjoyed the views of the arena, which was beautifully lit at night. The vibrant atmosphere of Lucca, combined with the serene surroundings of the Airbnb, made for a perfect getaway. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to explore the rich history and stunning scenery of Tuscany!

Great location directly overlooking historic square and easily walkable to everything, shopping, historic sites, etc. it is a b&b that actually does not serve breakfast. You have to go around the corner to another place which is not very nice for breakfast. Rooms may vary but our bathroom, especially the sink, was so tiny. We kept hitting our heads onto the mirror... Not for big people. Otherwise, very good use of space. We enjoyed our stay.

What a beautiful place (Lucca) and what a great, unusual and wonderful b&b . Our host (Monica) was brilliant- friendly, informative and welcoming. The property is unique and it felt special to be able to stay there especially looking out across the square. Breakfast is served at a cafe around the corner and the service here was excellent. The b&b is located in the old amphitheater there are a plethora of bars , restaurants and shops to suit all tastes. We will be back and we will only look to book this great place.

A most hospitable stay at this B&B with a scrumptious breakfast provided at the local bakery/ cafe around the corner. Fresh orange juice with freshly baked produce. I had a room with a view of the Arena which is filled with fibrant restaurants, bars and cafes. Ensuite bathroom was quirky and made me fall in love with the room. The hosts don’t speak English but they were so welcoming and kind. This is one to come back to!

Accommodation good and lovely location. However we opted for breakfast which we knew was in a cafe down the road. When we arrived all tables were taken (only 6 or 7 tables for 2) it was pouring with rain and we had to sit under umbrella outside. THe only choice of breakfast was filled rolls or croissants. No fruit or yoghurt or cereal available. I chose a filled roll a croissant coffee and orange juice and when leaving was asked to pay an extra 2 euros as I had exceeded my 10 euro allowance. I have never been anywhere that had so little choice and then asked to pay extra. We spoke to our host who arranged for a table inside to be made-available for the rest of our stay but said prices had gone up and that was that.

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the B&B Arena Di Lucca. Everything was perfect. The room was large and comfortable with super king bed sofa and chair. Spacious on ensuite with lovely shower gel and soaps replenished throughout our stay. We were also provided with bottled water daily. The service was second to none. We were given lots information and recommendation. Nothing was too much trouble. Very friendly and welcoming. The perfect place to stay for a memorable visit to Lucca. It is situated over looking the piazza where there are many restaurants. Breakfast is taken at the Tre Merli which is just outside the main entrance and they serve a substantial continental breakfast. Wonderful holiday highly recommend

Frequently asked questions about Lucca

When is the best time to visit Lucca?

For pleasant weather, visit in May or September, when days are warm and rain is moderate. July and August are the hottest months, with peaks around 31°C. November is the rainiest, with 15 wet days. June offers a drier stretch with fewest rain days. The Lucca Summer Festival, held in summer, is a well-known music event.

Which area should I stay in in Lucca?

Stay inside the historic center for proximity to Piazza dell'Anfiteatro and the Duomo. The area around Via Fillungo suits shoppers and those wanting boutiques, with A Palazzo Busdraghi there. Near Piazza Napoleone, you are close to sights and quiet streets, where Palazzo Dipinto sits. For a green, slower stay, the area near the Mura di Lucca (the city walls) works well, with Lucca in Villa San Donato nearby.

What are the must-see attractions in Lucca?

The must-sees start with Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, the oval square marking the old Roman arena. Piazza Napoleone is the city's main gathering square. The Duomo di San Martino holds the revered Volto Santo, while Guinigi Tower offers rooftop views from its famous holm oaks. Walk the Mura di Lucca, the well-preserved Renaissance walls, and pass through Porta San Pietro, a grand historic gate.

What day trips can I take from Lucca?

The full-day tours from Lucca head to Cinque Terre, a string of five colorful cliffside villages with hiking trails and sea views. Other tours go to Siena and San Gimignano, two medieval Tuscan hill towns, with a stop in the Chianti wine region. You could also plan your own trip, but these organized outings cover the main highlights.

How many days do I need in Lucca?

Two days in Lucca let you see the main sights: the elliptical Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, the Duomo di San Martino, the Guinigi Tower with its rooftop trees, and a walk along the Mura di Lucca. Add a third day if you want to take a full-day tour to Cinque Terre or Siena and San Gimignano, since those leave from Lucca. That gives you a relaxed pace with time for a coffee in Piazza Napoleone.
