An incredible hotel with the most beautiful views from our room. It truly felt like staying in a fairytale! The service was exceptional from start to finish. They helped us find our way to the hotel and even carried our luggage, which was such a thoughtful touch. Everything was extremely well organized, and the staff was always kind, attentive, and helpful. The room was spotless, beautiful, and exactly as shown in the pictures. Everything felt luxurious and special. Absolutely loved our stay.

A delightful hotel in the heart of the Sassi. Spacious and comfortable rooms with a/c and great views of the national park and caves. Everything was within walking distance. Staff were knowledgeable, gracious and very helpful.

Amazing hotel with cave like design, super clean room, the only drawback is we needed to carry the luggage up the hotel as it’s located slightly up the hill, the hotel staff was very helpful to have helped, it was worth the walk.

This may have been my favorite stay in Italy! The room was great, so fun staying in a cave but it was also clean, comfortable, spacious and great shower pressure. The hotel helped us reserve parking outside the historic center and a driver to take us to the hotel. There are still stairs from the car drop off to the hotel, but they had someone waiting to help us with our bags. Huge kudos to him as he worked hard getting our luggage to the hotel with only kindness! Big thank you to him! They also helped us get back to the car (again with our bags). The hotel breakfast was delicious as well. The city is beautiful, and everyone we met at the hotel was so kind. I highly recommend this stay!

We booked a spa treatment for Valentine’s Day about three months in advance and received a confirmation for 3:00 PM. On the day itself, I messaged again to confirm what time we should arrive, and the appointment was reconfirmed without any issue. However, when we showed up, we were told at reception that no booking existed under our name and that another couple had been given our time slot. Instead of taking responsibility, we were told it was our fault for not providing a credit card number — although this was never requested during the reservation process. It was especially disappointing given the occasion and the prior confirmations. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled felt unprofessional and dismissive. Overall, a very frustrating experience with poor customer service.

Our stay at Cenobio in Matera was simply unforgettable ✨ Sleeping in a beautifully decorated cave, full of charm and absolute comfort, was such a unique experience. Every detail was thoughtfully curated, creating the perfect balance between history and luxury. What truly made our stay special, though, was the incredibly warm and attentive service. Mario, Ivana, and Antonella made us feel at home from the very first moment, offering a level of genuine hospitality . Without a doubt, a place we would return to in a heartbeat 💛

Cenobio is a beautiful boutique cave hotel with stunning rooms carved into the stone and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. The location is perfect for exploring the Sassi, and the private spa is a real must do. . The staff are warm and attentive — Mario in particular was exceptionally helpful and welcoming and even remembered our morning drinks request. A wonderfully positioned and memorable place to stay in Matera.

We made a reservation for a spa treatment three months in advance for Valentine’s Day and received a confirmation for 3:00 PM. When we arrived, however, the receptionist told us that we did not have a reservation and that another couple had been scheduled in our time slot. We were then blamed for not providing a credit card number — something that was never requested from us at any point during the booking process. This was extremely disappointing, especially on Valentine’s Day. The handling of the situation and the lack of accountability reflect very poor customer service. A very frustrating and unprofessional experience.
