Overall it was ok, but there were some issues. Primary amongst them was that only one life was working, so getting up and down was really slow - we twice had to walk down the stairs because the life was out, once with our luggage, from level 9 - not much fun to be honest. Additionally, the bed was awful and there didn't appear to be any room cleaning service for our room. On the plus side, the location was brilliant, and the shower had pressure and heat to spare. I don't think I would stay again though, given the issues with the lifts and the bed.

Budget room definitely not with a budget price. Quite disappointed with the room, beds weren’t very comfy and the ‘king’ bed was 2 singles together which is fine however it was rock hard in the middle, which ultimately just meant using 2 singles. Still only one very small lift working, which is very slow. Also construction works right outside our door in the morning. Walls are very thin, can hear everything. Location is great. Overall quite disappointed for the price.

This lovely multi storey hotel is located in the heart of Melbourne, trams a short walk away, I found the staff to be lovely - they couldn’t do enough for me, when I ran out of coffee there was more delivered within 2 minutes of returning to my room. The shower pressure is great, the beds new. The room I had freshly painted (room 772). The aircon although older was very efficient. I will definately return to stay here when I come back to Melbourne!

The bed was so uncomfortable we had to go to Kmart and purchase an air bed!! Having extensively travelled and previously stayed at Mecure properties this was very unexpected. Since visiting ive read all of the google reviews and this is reported constantly. The standard response on your Google reviews is not enough. You have so many guests coming to a hotel to sleep. Do something about your mattresses. Breakfast buffet was excellent as was the lady in charge. Whilst location is excellent. I will never stay again .

Situated in Chinatown, this hotel is surrounded by restaurants, shopping malls, convenience stores, cafes, banks/ATM. Walking distance to several tram stations, bus stops and train station. Hotel is cozy, clean. Amenities were adequate with toiletries, desk, mini fridge, ironing board with iron. Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant above hotel serves a modest selection breakfast buffet. Would definitely stay here again.

The stay was great, particularly the location of the hotel. It's just across from Chinatown and in the middle of the CBD, making it accessible to most areas of the city within walking distance. It's also surrounded by Asian dining options that are open till late which is great. The rooms were just nice and the breakfast was decent. Overall, a satisfying stay.

June 2025, Good location as it's in the middle of the city. The rooms are small and not great for long term stay but perfect for couple of nights. We didn't get an upgrade but got free breakfast as part of Platinum membership. Breakfast was decent.

We were in Melbourne for the NFL and chose Mercure Melbourne City Centre as ALL Accor members who have generally had positive experiences across the group. Unfortunately, this stay fell well short of expectations. The room was dark, dated and felt closer to a two to three-star property than a four-star hotel. The bathroom had visibly rotting timber, the furnishings were very basic, and the mattress was thin and uncomfortable. Housekeeping only every three days is also difficult to reconcile with a four-star rating. Reception was regularly understaffed at peak times, resulting in unnecessary waits. The lifts were another recurring frustration, with one intermittently out of service during our four-night stay despite having recently been serviced. There were some positives. The shower pressure was good, extra towels were delivered quickly, and breakfast was decent, although the offering was quite basic. Overall, the condition of the room, level of service and general standard of the property did not match either the Mercure brand or our expectations of a four-star hotel. We would not stay here again.
