Hotel itself is good. Room is clean, staff are friendly, there’s a coffee machine that was nice that we could help ourselves to whenever we wanted. Here as the downsides - first of all, the parking is absolutely horrible. It’s impossible to find a spot and when you finally do, good luck with getting your car back out because it’s SO busy and there’s no come and go. Every time you leave you pay $29 so we found ourselves either walking everywhere or taking a uber for just about the same amount. I’ve never stayed at a hotel where this is the case, usually you pay about $30 for your whole stay but not here. Just that alone makes me never want to stay there again. Secondly, the pool looks super cool - you can view it from the reception desk so we were very interested in checking it out. We were most excited for the sauna which was out of order. The pool was so incredibly busy you could barely see the bottom and the 2 hot tubs were completely full. Mind you, it’s also a gross rainy day in an outdoor swimming space, I don’t even want to know how this looks on a sunny day. We waited for 20 minutes on the lounge chairs to see if the hot tubs would open up some space then ended up leaving.

Absolutely the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Montreal. The unique location within Place Bonaventure gives you direct access to Grand Central, the underground city, or heated parking below, but situated on the 10th floor +, on the other end of the block, perched at the top of the hill, you’d never know you're on top of a major transit hub. We walked 10 minutes to Old Montreal to do all the things—10 minutes to Ruben’s Deli for classic Montreal Smoked-Meat sandwiches, and to shop on Rue Sainte-Catherine. Beyond the hotel's incredible location, the hotel itself was an incredible stay. Beautiful, spacious rooms with comfortable beds, a chaise lounge, hotel linens, robes, a waterfall shower, and more. The rooms and hotel were meticulously clean. The amenities are the true gem. The pool was warm and inviting in the sunny, crisp fall air, and the hot tub was absolutely delicious at night, surrounded by lights and stars. We spent every morning and night at the pool and loved every minute. Additionally, the concierge were very helpful and friendly. When we arrived, I didn’t request a specific room, but we found that many looked out onto the pool or a lovely Japanese garden with a duck stream. The gardens are lovely, but being a bit particular about privacy, I asked if we could have a city-view room. The concierge provided options and let us pick the best city view room that better suited our taste. The service was above and beyond; every moment went by with ease. We’re already planning our next trip back.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Bonaventure. The hotel is on the 10th floor of Place Bonaventure with underground parking which is super convenient. The heated outdoor pool was amazing to relax in. It was a very popular spot! We ate in the dining room a couple of times and enjoyed the food both times! Rooms are large, king bed was comfortable and our view of the duck pond was great! Felt like we were in a rural setting, not downtown Montreal! I highly recommend this hotel!!

Its closeness to the train station. I had the best heated outdoor swimming pool experience in my life. The pond with mandarin ducks; the meandering path with various plants and beautiful autumn scenery.

Hotel Bonaventure was a great choice for our family during our first visit to Montreal. It’s a very family-friendly hotel, and the location couldn’t have been better, with a Metro station just across the street and convenient, reasonably priced underground parking. The room was clean and comfortable. We would have appreciated a microwave, but the tea kettle was a nice addition and not something we usually see in hotels in the U.S. The room felt a bit dim, though the cloudy weather during our stay likely made it feel darker. The rooftop pool was the highlight of our stay! It was such a fun place to relax, and having two hot tubs was an added bonus. The lobby was welcoming, and our kids couldn’t get enough of the ducks on the property. We didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant, but overall we had a great experience and would absolutely recommend Hotel Bonaventure to families visiting Montreal. We’d happily stay here again.

We stayed at Hotel Bonaventure during a family trip to Montréal and had a decent overall experience. The location is excellent—directly across from the train station, near the Underground City, and within walking distance of a Provigo grocery store, handy for grabbing snacks and essentials. We also appreciated the complimentary coffee available by the lobby. The hotel’s greenery and outdoor pool create a unique atmosphere. The pool is a major highlight, though it was very busy during our stay and less relaxing than expected. Their gym is quite equipped and had a good size to it. Our room was comfortable but dated, and the hallways and common areas definitely showed much of the wear and tear. With so many people coming and going, there was also a slight concern about security and keeping track of who was actually staying at the hotel. The staff we’ve encountered were good, particularly the one that worked the night shift helped us with our first night. When we experienced an unexpected medical issue and needed to visit the ER, she provided thoughtful support, advice, water, and Advil, making a stressful situation much easier. Overall, the hotel offers a very convenient location, distinctive amenities, and compassionate staff, though the property would benefit from updating and improved upkeep.

Loved our room ...view of the duck pond :) Great staff from the reception to the restaurant to the bar... outdoor heated pool is great! One hickup... spa and sauna were not ready in the morning as intended and we found a lone sock in our closet ... but that would not stop us from staying here again. Great area as well, out of the big hustle of downtown yet close to core, about a 20 minutes walking radius.

Ok so this is a really cool hotel. Good restaurant, great 24/7 coffee maker that can do lattes, espresso, etc. rooftop gardens are lovely and serene, pool and hot tub we really enjoyed BUT we had a pretty serious safety issue while staying there. The hotel is old and the door to our room did not close easily - had to be pushed/pulled with some force. We were careful to always ensure it was fully shut. When we came back from sightseeing one day, housekeeping had failed to do this and our room could have been accessed by anyone. Thankfully nothing was taken but this was a pretty big deal to me. I did report it to the front desk and they seemed to take it seriously, but I don’t know what steps were taken. Safety might be an issue in general here - it’s cool that you can access the metro directly from the hotel but there is nothing stopping just anyone from the subway coming in and wandering the halls of the hotel. Even in the middle of the night, no key card is needed to get in. No visible security presence. Was it a cool hotel with some great amenities? Absolutely. Would I stay there again? Nope. Not safe
