One Stay Before the Hotel Closes|Meitetsu Grand Hotel is due to close permanently, and I wanted to stay here at least once before it does. At the time of my stay, the exact closing date had not yet been announced. The reception area is quite simple and rather empty, with just a few sofas. The hotel had originally been scheduled to close on March 31, and it appeared that much of the reception area had already been cleared out in preparation for the closure. However, that plan was later withdrawn and the hotel is still operating for the time being, which may explain why the lobby feels rather bare. Luggage can be stored before the 3:00 p.m. check-in time, which is always useful when arriving in Nagoya early. My room was fairly standard, but I had a good view as it faced towards the city centre. Overall, this is a very traditional, standard hotel, with pretty much everything you would normally need for a comfortable stay. I also visited the bar on the top floor, but found it a little disappointing. The drinks menu was surprisingly limited. I'm not sure whether it has always been this simple or whether the selection has already been reduced in preparation for the hotel's eventual closure. Breakfast is also served on the top floor, which I imagine would be quite pleasant with the view, although I didn't choose a room with breakfast this time. I'm glad I had the opportunity to stay here once before this long-established Nagoya hotel closes its doors.

This was a good stay. Everybody comments on the older rooms and while they are right it is only something to be nitpicky about. Everything in the hotel is functional, the two bedroom I stayed in was extremely spacious, and the staff are very friendly. It is also extremely close to the station or bus stop which is wonderful. It’s a great place to be since you should be enjoying your vacation in the streets rather than camping in your hotel.

Finally managed to book a smoking room. The nostalgia look and feel of the site is a plus to me. V helpful staff and v clean room…. Room is big enuff to open yur luggage on floor and room rate is of great value…. very convenient spot near JR I wud definitely choose Meitetsu again next time

Sit atop closed Department Store. This is a old but well maintained Hotel. The room for four is spacious,clean and beds were comfortable. Unfortunately, the were no USB plug-ins, no separation between Baht and toilet like newer Hotel rooms. Location wise. This is close to bus and train stations with plenty of restaurants and shops. At the lobby, there is a weight scale for luggages and nice complimentary UCC coffee machine. Highly recommended for families

Checked out from Hotel Indigo Inuyama and headed to Nagoya City 🫶 Inuyama to Nagoya takes only about 30 minutes — super convenient! Initially, I was considering Hyatt or JR Gate Tower Hotel. After some research: ❌ JR Gate Tower is closer to JR ❌ Hyatt isn’t as near as I expected But if you’re heading to the airport or Takayama, staying near Meitetsu actually makes more sense 👀 Since I was leaving early the next morning for Takayama, there was really no need to stay at an expensive hotel 😛 So I picked this one instead. Yes, it’s a bit old — but the location is honestly unbeatable 👍 ✔ Less than 5 minutes’ walk from the airport line ✔ Bus Centre right below the hotel ✔ Meitetsu shopping mall just downstairs ✔ SUPER convenient if you’re catching an early bus I booked via Agoda — only SGD 89 for one night 💰 If you’re booking on Agoda, key in “LOBANGQUEEN” to enjoy a discount ✨ IG:Lobangqueen_sg

It's an old hotel however, it's relatively well maintained and very clean. Room is clean and spacious. Entrance to the hotel is right in front of the giant dolls along the walkway. Lookout for the red hotel signage. Location is superb. It's located at Nagoya Station and has easy access to other local trains such as the Meitetsu and Kintetsu (these are local metro which has their own station within Nagoya station). And this hotel has direct access at 3F to the bus terminal as well. View out of the room is great and there's lots of natural light. There used to be a department store at the lower level of the hotel (The hotel company actually runs the Meitetsu metro and the department store) however in February 2026, the department store has since closed down as there were plans to re-modernise the entire building. There is one small issue that is the Wi-Fi, it just couldn’t connect and even when it does, it’s not the best. But that might be just specific to my room since my room is at the very end of the building right at the corner, so the signal reception might be affected.

Good location. But the hotel and amenities is old and limited. Overall the room is clean. Breakfast okay but will be good if there are some changes to the spread. Otherwise long staying guests feel bored with the food.

My second time staying at this hotel. It is very convenient for travelers who take public transportation— taxi stop, bus stop, Kintetsu, Meitetsu and JR all within short walking distance on the same side of the road. Louis Vuitton, Dior just one block on the left across the road. Takashimaya also within short walking distance.
