I liked it. It's quaint and very old-style and you absolutely can't beat the location (right down the street from the city gate and the tour bus stop.) It's air conditioned but is missing USB ports, so if you have things to charge, you'll need an adapter. The included breakfast is quite good for the size of the place, though.

WOW WOW WOW. My family and I stayed at the Josefa during the Medieval Festival at the end of July and wow. The location could really not be any better (especially considering the free parking!). The service was amazing (the woman at the front desk was incredibly friendly and warm), and the rooms were nothing short of amazing. Breakfast was more than enough and very reasonably priced. The only - and this is a weak only - thing I could ask for would be maybe more outlets in the room. Otherwise, what a great stay!

Good location just outside tbe city wall with free parking. Place is looking a little tired, AC unit is so noisy you would not try and sleep with it on and the bed is unbelievably hard, worst we have experienced. Even trying to sleep on top of the bed covers didn't help. Wi-Fi is intermittent useless unless you're in reception. In the room it is not stable or usable most of the time. Unfortunately we would not recommend

We came on purpose for the restaurant buffet and unfortunately my father in law fell right on the entry of the hotel which we were supposed to go to enter the restaurant. He was seriously injured and was bleeding so we had help straight away from Vanessa from the reception team, helped us got an ambulance and was extremely helpful, empathic and very supportive and kind. We truly want to thank Vanessa for such a wonderful and professional person helped us maintain the calm and stayed with us throughout all the procedure with the ambulance and professionals. Congratulations on the hotel for having people like this as part of their team.

We have taken the liberty of responding to your comments with a few observations: Indeed, our hotel (a 4-star establishment) – located less than a 5-minute walk from the main entrance to the town of Óbidos – was built in the 1980s but was renovated a few years ago (in 2016), and our rooms are comfortable, airy and much appreciated. Regarding the odour you mention having noticed, could this be due to the limitations of the sanitation system in the medieval town of Óbidos? The fact is that on days when there is a strong north wind, faint odours do enter the living/accommodation spaces in our historic town, and our hotel is no exception. In other words, this happens in various accommodation venues (and residential homes) situated above that older water line. Such are the quirks of staying in a medieval town! Super nice hotel. Clean with great firm beds. Everyone was nice and helpful. Breakfast great with a lot of choices. Oh and the bar was nice and laid back. I would stay again.

Excellent hotel located just outside main entrance to Obidos old town. Really helpful and polite staff. Good breakfast options. Would definitely stay there again. Only difficulty was parking, as limited outside hotel. But plenty within 5 minutes walk.
