Qingdao Private Tour: Laoshan Mountain&Customized City Highlights
(1 reviews)
From $229
The best time to visit Qingdao is from May to June and September to October, when temperatures are mild and rain is less frequent. July and August are the hottest and rainiest months, with high humidity and frequent showers. Spring (April) and autumn (October) are also pleasant, though April can be a bit cooler. Winter is dry but cold, with temperatures around 0-6°C. The Tsingtao Beer Festival in August is famous, but it coincides with the wettest period.
Stay in Shinan District for the city center, near May Fourth Square and the coast, with easy access to sights and the featured hotels like Shangri-La and The Westin. Laoshan District suits those wanting a quieter, greener stay near the mountains, where the Hyatt Regency is located. Huangdao offers a beach-focused stay across the bay, with the Hilton Qingdao Golden Beach as an option. Chengyang is farther out, better for transit connections, with the Holiday Inn Qingdao Parkview nearby.
The must-see sights are 五四广场, the city's iconic seaside square with its symbolic sculpture, and the Tsingtao Brewery Museum, where you can learn about the history of China's most famous beer. Both are central to Qingdao's identity and worth a visit.
Laoshan is the main day trip, a coastal mountain with Taoist temples and sea views. The city highlights tour covers Qingdao's sights, and the culture and beer tour focuses on local history and Tsingtao. A tour to Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace is also available, though it is a long trip from Qingdao.
Plan 3 to 4 days. In 2 days you can see 五四广场 and the Tsingtao Brewery Museum, plus stroll the old town and beach. Add a third day for a relaxed pace or a day trip to Laoshan, which needs an extra day. If you want both the city highlights and the mountain, 4 days fits comfortably.
