The best time to visit Qingdao is from May to June and September to October, when temperatures are mild and rain is less frequent. July and August are the hottest and rainiest months, with high humidity and frequent showers. Spring (April) and autumn (October) are also pleasant, though April can be a bit cooler. Huangdao offers a beach-focused stay across the bay, with the Hilton Qingdao Golden Beach as an option. Chengyang is farther out, better for transit connections, with the Holiday Inn Qingdao Parkview nearby.
The must-see sights are 五四广场, the city's iconic seaside square with its symbolic sculpture, and the Tsingtao Brewery Museum, where you can learn about the history of China's most famous beer. Both are central to Qingdao's identity and worth a visit.
Laoshan is the main day trip, a coastal mountain with Taoist temples and sea views.
