Incredibly great value. This is a very nice old hotel, quite posh really. Good bar and restaurant, beautiful rooms, staff were super helpful in every respect. Hospitality at its finest. And the location is spot on. I'm not sure if we lucked out with a very low Monday price or something however this was the cheapest, and best, room we bought during our roadtrip in NZ. However, the parking is a pain. Only a few spots on site and if you don't get there early enough to get one of those, parking is meter parking on the street. Free before 9am so if you leave after 9am you'll have to be a New Zealander who can register for the parking payment app for on-street parking, or maybe cop a fine.

The building is great and well kept. Lovely art and decor and style. A piece of history! Unfortunately the floor boards above room 10 squeak horribly. It didn’t start until our neighbors above began moving around 430 or 5a. They were still up and about when we left around 7a. I brought it to the attention of the front desk at check-out, knowing it’s an old building and they have done a lot to keep it up. But the old nails in the floor need to be pulled and replaced. The person at the front was dismissive and unsympathetic. As a place to sleep, unfortunately, I just can’t recommend it. Maybe the upper floor is okay?Wish we had *tried* to sleep elsewhere. I did read a lot of recent 5 star reviews before booking, but in hindsight felt they were a bit too optimistic about what you really get outside of the cute lobby area. And the parking is not really part of the hotel. It’s on the street and just happens to be free after 3p. But you have to be gone before 9a.

Princes Gate Hotel is a genuine heritage hotel, with lovely old style features as well as modern essentials such as good fast wi-fi, excellent aircon in the room and was nicely furnished. The hotel has genuine history, dating from the 19th century and it was very pleasant having a pre-dinner drink in the lounge area. in front of the open fire. The staff were lovely to deal with and the stay was very pleasant. The hotel is in walking distance of restaurants and cafes as well as the lakefront and Government gardens. If we stay in Rotorua again, it will very likely be here

Location is excellent in centre of Rotorua. Hotel has historic charm, but therefore the rooms are not super new (still OK). The room was quite small. Free and easy parking in the street. Overall a good stay.

I had a magnificent experience in this beautiful and historical hotel. The hotel is only a few minutes walk to the information centre, bus station and eat streat, making it easily accessible. The staff, especially Ms Kaur, is very helpful and attentive. I had an early flight in the morning and she arranged a very smooth checkout. She is also enthusiastic in showing me around the hotel. Really appreciate the effort and would definitely recommend this hotel!

We had a wonderful stay and were really impressed with this hotel. The location is great—convenient yet peaceful—and the overall atmosphere is relaxing from the moment you arrive. Our room was clean, cozy, and well maintained, with a very comfortable bed that made for a great night’s sleep. The highlight of our stay was definitely the outdoor hot spring. It is beautifully designed and surrounded by a lovely setting, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. It was such a memorable experience. The hotel was spotless throughout, and the soundproofing was excellent, so we enjoyed a quiet and restful stay. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, always happy to help with anything we needed. The facilities were well equipped and easy to use. Overall, the hotel offers excellent value for money. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The Prince's Gate Hotel is super conveniently located, across the road from the Howard Morrison Centre, next to the Government gardens, and with easy walk to town.|The hotel was built in another time, but well-maintained. The atmosphere inside is other worldly, with furnishings (while clearly recently made) like something out of the 1910s. The chandeliers are impressive; even the telephones hearken to another time.|Our room was a two-bedroom apartment. It is very roomy, with two large beds (one with a king-sized bed, one with two singles), a lounge, a kitchen and huge bathroom with separate toilet. The beds are firm but comfortable if you like that. Everything is laid on, even slippers for when you get out of the shower. The only issue is that given the age of the doors, the handles aren't as functional as they once were. The rooms were clean and serviced daily. There are heated pools outside to relax in surrounded by pretty landscaping, plus a sauna.|There are a large number of rooms at the hotel, but we weren't bothered by street noise or people talking at all. |The buffet breakfast is fantastic with cooked and continental options. The staff are friendly and accommodating.|I would love to come back one day.
