I always love staying at this hotel, it’s clean, quiet, and staff is very professional. I love the old, classy look of the hotel and love that it reminds me of Beauty and the Beast. The gentleman working the front desk on 7/22 at night (9-10pmish) was so professional and kind and created such a welcoming and classy environment that majority of hotels struggle to provide these days. He truly made this hotel feel like a 5 star hotel. Another bonus of this hotel is the amazing gym, which is 4 stories and has every amenity possible. This is definitely the hotel to stay at in downtown San Diego. Tacos El Gordo is a short 7 minute walk along with the main strip of the Gaslamp district. I can’t wait to come back and plan on trying the afternoon tea next time!

What a wonderful time! This gem in the heart of San Diego was THE BEST experience I have had while visiting this beautiful city. Joe and the rest of the staff were very friendly and attentive. Joe, a Manager, was amazing and made sure my family had a great time as we celebrated my wife's Birthday. Our week-end was very special because of the attentive staff, excellent restaurant and ornate architecture. If you want the opposite experience of the "cookie-cutter" Garden Inn, this is the hotel for you. |The onsite facilities are awesome! The relaxing pool has an incredible view of the city and the harbor. The poolside bar is very convenient, well stocked and is tended by a very friendly Bartender. In fact, after drinking three buckets of beer on an empty stomach, the staff was caring enough to give me a free ride up to my room in a wheelchair. Awesome people!! I had a great time.|If you're looking for a corporate cookie cutter cafeteria bed to flop in, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for nostalgic traditional attention, a sense of being appreciated for your patronage, 18th century grandeurs of France and a central location within walking distance to everything, the Westgate Hotel, San Diego ought to be your destination.

I stayed here from Sept 23 thru Sept 28, 2026. The service here is impeccable, the room - pristine. The staff were very kind, welcoming, attentive, helpful, thoughtful, informative, and even offered suggestions for things to do and places to eat at. The rooms are large and airy and the air conditioning in the rooms sometimes worked so well that the room became much colder than I expected it would get, which for me was a plus and I could simply adjust the thermostat slightly for it to warm up a bit. The bed was incredibly comfortable (not too plush, but also not too firm) and was appointed with down bedding and pillows. The bathroom was furnished with a very large vanity where you could also sit and apply your makeup. The shower, omg the shower.... I'm impressed by the shower head so much that I'm going to begin researching and shopping for one by the manufacturer. I've never been in a shower with that much water pressure - it felt like I was getting a water massage every time I got in there!! The brass fixtures, hardware, and decorative touches really added statement to this classy hotel while the pocket doors for the closet and toilet/shower area really added the historic charm I've grown to love. But be cautious... those pocket doors are solid wood and quite heavy to pull closed. The location of this hotel in the Gaslamp quarter was incredibly convenient to Old Town, Sea World, The San Diego Zoo, Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, Little Italy, and many other conveniences. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to visit, you WILL NOT be disappointed!!!

Service and food were wonderful. Lounge and spa area could use a little more attention. Lots of debris from the trees in the pool and deck. "Heated" pool was a bit chilly and jets in the jacuzzi in the fitness center and hot tub outside were non-functioning. Other than those maintenance issues this was a very comfortable space to hangout and recharge. The loungers were super comfy and the rest of the fitness center was fully stocked and cared for.

The front desk experience was not very welcoming. The gentleman asked for my card to charge $100, and I had to ask why. He eventually explained that it was a damage deposit and that the amount would be returned to my card. I completely understood the charge, but I feel that should have been explained upfront. The room itself was nice, and the beds were very comfortable. The view was also beautiful. However, there were several details that could have been better maintained. The door knobs and sink knobs had a green tarnished appearance, which made them look like they hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned. The carpet also had a slightly musty, damp smell, and there was visible mold in the shower. The sink water pressure was extremely strong and made a bit of a mess. Overall, I enjoyed the comfortable bed and nice view, but I wish the customer service had been warmer and that more attention had been given to the smaller cleanliness and maintenance details.

Great downtown location, nice and spacious rooms, clean, nice staff. Special mention: the invited musicians at the bar (thanks Mikan) and lobby (grazie Chiara), who really add to the atmosphere and set this place apart from other hotels. Good price/quality ratio overall. The only downsides is that the trolley line is somewhat noisy but you get used to it very fast. Will definitely return.

Bia, Sarah and her staff were amazing. The parking lot attendants incredible. Thank you all for your hospitality. The rooms very clean and accommodating The pool, the bar all the amenities the hotel offer very nice. I can't wait to come back. Definitely will recommend. Everyone was very nice and professional.
