We had a really nice stay at Taj Campton Place in San Francisco. The location is excellent, right in downtown, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and attractions within walking distance. Chinatown is less than a 10-minute walk away, which is very convenient. The room wasn’t particularly large, but it was very comfortable and well equipped. The bed was great, and everything was clean and well maintained. One thing I really appreciated was how quiet the room was. Even though the hotel is in a busy downtown area, it was surprisingly peaceful once the windows were closed. The breakfast was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The food was delicious, especially the smoked salmon, and everything was nicely prepared. We really enjoyed starting our mornings there. The front desk staff were also very friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Francisco. We’d be happy to stay here again!

I had high expectations for this hotel based on its five-star reputation and prime location which is close to china town, etc. but the service fell short in some areas. The arrival experience was underwhelming. There was no doorman or bell staff to greet guests or assist with luggage, even though parking is off-site. At check-in, the front desk staff was efficient but not particularly warm or welcoming (with exception with John who assisted us). A friendly greeting or small hospitality gesture, such as offering water, would have gone a long way in making guests feel valued. Breakfast is great and customer service is excellent, shoutout to Elijio. No pool on site, but the view of the workout room is nice. Another disappointment was the additional service charges. Even for small in-room requests, the hotel charges approximately $10 for delivery or service, which feels excessive considering the room rates and luxury branding. While the property itself is beautiful and the location is excellent, the level of hospitality did not match what I expect from a five-star hotel. Again, this is exception with John and front desk guy who lent me scissors. The front desk guy who checked us in maybe needs more training for warmer customer service. Overall, we had a nice stay.

Good location close to Union Square with good shopping opportunities and relatively close proximity to public transit. The big downside is that many good shops moved OUT of Union Square.

We used to stay at the Palace Hotel whenever we visited San Francisco. Last year, during one visit, the weather suddenly turned terrible. The wind was so strong that our umbrella broke, and it was almost impossible to stand outside. As we walked past this hotel, one of the doormen kindly invited us inside to get out of the storm and stay safe. My dad said, “If the doorman is this friendly, the hotel must be wonderful.” That experience stayed with us, so this time I decided to book our stay here. We were not disappointed. Every staff member was warm, welcoming, and professional throughout our visit. The breakfast and lunch were both excellent. The only surprise was being charged for a second pot of coffee. I don’t think I’ve ever been charged for a coffee refill at a five-star hotel. Our room was beautiful and comfortable. I especially loved the spacious closet in the bathroom. The hotel also provides thoughtful amenities, including a toothbrush and toothpaste, slippers, bathrobes, and even complimentary macarons as a welcome gift. The location is another huge advantage. It’s just a one-minute walk to Union Square, making it very convenient for shopping and sightseeing. One thing worth mentioning is that the bathtub requires stepping up two steps to get in, which may not be ideal for senior guests or anyone with limited mobility. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and will definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

Excellent location and warm hospitality for a business stay I stayed at Taj Campton Place during a solo business trip to San Francisco and had a very pleasant experience. Although the regular check-in time was 3 p.m., the team arranged a room for me by noon, which I really appreciated. The location is the biggest highlight—right by Union Square, with plenty of good restaurants and shopping options nearby. It was a very convenient base for my stay. The staff were consistently kind, courteous and helpful. The hotel has a bar and a small restaurant, and I particularly enjoyed the Indian food, which I had on several days. The room was comfortable and had all the basic amenities. It wasn’t as grand as the Taj rooms many of us are used to in India, but it served my needs well, and the service was good throughout. Overall, a comfortable business stay with warm hospitality and an excellent location.

Stayed here for a few days during my trip to San Francisco and had a great experience overall. The location is hard to beat. Everything was nearby, and it made getting around the city very easy. The hotel itself feels elegant and well maintained without being over the top. My room was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet for such a central location. The bed was comfortable, and I slept very well during my stay. I only had breakfast once, but it was good. I also had dinner at Bombay Brasserie during my stay. My only complaint was the speed of service. Everyone was polite and professional, but everything moved incredibly slowly. As a New Yorker, that was probably the most frustrating part of the stay. A simple request often took much longer than expected, which became a bit annoying after a while. Other than that, I really enjoyed this hotel. Great location, comfortable room, and a very pleasant stay overall. I would definitely stay here again when visiting San Francisco

Stayed here for Pokemon Worlds 2026 for 3 nights. The rooms are nice enough, though a bit small. But to my perception it was really clean. The service was wonderful, everyone was always friendly and helpful. Honestly, the only reason I would not book this hotel again is mostly the constant strong smell of food in the lobby was an assault on my nostrils every time I walked by. I always felt it stuck to my clothes too. Although this last part was probably just in my head, since I didn’t stay there long for that reason. The other thing is what everyone else mentions, the property, while it has clearly been well kept, is long past its prime and is in dire need of a face lift.

I have spent the last 15 years on the road as a sports agent, and this was my first time staying at a Taj hotel. Wow have I been missing out. I have never had such an incredible experience. From the friendly and attentive service, personal touches, macarons and extra bottles of water. The staff was exceptional. If you get the opportunity, go now. At their bistro they have an Asparagus and Pea soup. I know what you're thinking, sounds gross. I thought the same thing...but then I looked at the rest of the menu and the items as they came out to other guests. Everything looked so good. So I asked the bartender... "how often do people order this? It sounds strange but the menu looks good and if the chef thinks its good, it has to be decent, right?" He responded, "Unfortunately its our least ordered soup, but it is really good. Its only seasonal, so it will be gone soon." If this wasn't the best soup I have ever had in my life, holy sh**!! Sprint to try it before it disappears! Great ambiance. The tuna tartare was also a 10/10. I'd pass on the truffle fries at the price point though. Not a miss, just not equivalent value to the other dishes. Also, free wasabi peas at the bar when you sit down. Another win. Kind of obsessed with this place. Enjoy!
