We stayed at Hotel le Colline for 8 nights and overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Our room was exactly as described, had all the amenities we needed for our stay and was clean. There is no lift, however the hotel only goes up 1 floor. The only issue we could identify was that there was a step up in the bathroom to reach the sink etc, which wasn't an issue for us but we could see this being a problem for others. Our room faced the hillside (away from the road) and we had no issues sleeping or experiencing quiet in our room. We initially chose the hotel because of its location, parking availability and pool & other facilities. The hotel met every one of these expectations. The walk to San Gimignano is approximately 35-40 mins uphill (don't follow Google Maps). You have to walk away from the town and along the main road (which can get busy with traffic with no footpath) for approx. 3-4 mins before making your way along very quiet country roads. This did not concern us, however we could see how this could be an issue for others. With regards to transport options, there's a few things worth noting:|- There is a bus that runs from 6am to 8pm that calls directly outside the hotel about once an hour and costs about 1 to 2 Euros. The buses don't all look the same and can come anytime within a 10 minute window of the scheduled bus time, so make sure to keep an eye out for it!|- Taxis are few and far between around San Gimignano and can cost 25-30 Euros for a 3 min drive. Because of this, we never used one.|- The hotel offers a goodwill car pick-up and drop-off to / from San Gimignano & the hotel for 10 Euros, however the pick-up / drop-off time entirely depends on whether the driver is available, so you may have to wait a bit (the longest we waited was 45 mins, but we used it nearly every night we went into San Gimignano). We took several day trips in our car during our stay and never experienced an issue parking in the hotel car park or using the additional parking area opposite the hotel. When the weather was good, we took advantage of the pool area and hotel service, which was excellent, particularly the lunch & bar service (which was always extremely quiet as we were the only ones using it). The only downsides to this was that the pool is unheated and, unless the sun is out all day, it can be very cold. Additionally, the road noise does take away from the relaxation by the pool. The staff were extremely welcoming, attentive and friendly. We really appreciated their service while we relaxed and how helpful they were with local information & booking transport. They used Whatsapp to communicate with us throughout the stay which made it very easy. When we checked out, we had a few queries about our room service bill, but these were very quickly sorted out with no questions asked. Breakfast was an atypical Italian affair - lots of pastries, yogurt and cereal which were high quality and we enjoyed. There was also a small selection of other breakfast items (scrambled eggs, cold meats & cheeses). If you're expecting a more savoury breakfast, then you would have to travel to the nearest large city, as most of San Gimignano serves breakfast like this. Throughout our stay, the hotel itself seemed very quiet, with frequent turnover of guests as it seems most only stay 1 or 2 nights. Because of this, and because we were staying for 8 nights, we felt extremely well looked after by the staff, which made us feel very special and has left a great impression on Italian hospitality. If you are planning to stay in San Gimignano and looking for all of the above, we cannot recommend Hotel le Colline enough.

My travels thus far over the past 4 days which included Amsterdam and Florence, this was by far the best and my favorite. The staff which included Martina, Andrew, Georgia and Valentina were incredible. Polite, accommodating and very pleasant. The views from my room were spectacular, calming and a nice retreat. I would return for sure!

We had such a lovely stay at this small, family-owned hotel situated close to San Gimignano. The staff was always smiling and helpful and catered for all our needs. I even took a wine tour with the lady owner of the hotel and she was really lovely as well. We would definitely stay here again :)

Finding a special place can truly bring tranquility to one's life. An extraordinary location often provides a much-needed escape from daily stresses. The surrounding scenery offers good views that soothe the mind and soul. Spending time in such a place can be incredibly refreshing and restorative. Overall, it's an experience that is deeply enriching and pleasurable.

We have recently returned from a holiday to San Gimignano staying at the Hotel le Colline nearby, we stayed for a week with group of friends. I feel I must leave a review as we were made extremely welcome by all the staff and family members of the Hotel.|Nothing was too much trouble, our rooms were spotlessly clean and had everything you would require, breakfast was lovely, and the family restaurant that we ate at twice had a great menu and excellent food. We also took advantage of the wine tasting which was organised just for our group and had a very personal touch which we all enjoyed. |The swimming pool was great and described by one of our group as “cheeky livener to kick start your day”.|Overall we had a great trip made especially memorable by the hospitality of the le Colline staff and family. Many thanks Paul

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Le Colline. The room was spotlessly clean with amazing views from the balcony out onto the beautiful Tuscan hills. The staff in particular were what made this place very special to stay , very personable extremely helpful for any request we had and made us both feel at ease as soon as we arrived. Little mention to the hotel dog , Nina , we loved seeing her every morning whilst having our coffee out on the terrace. We enjoyed a meal at their restaurant on site which we would highly recommend to try. It’s in a perfect location to walk into San Gimignano , only 15 -20 mins walk away and well worth a walk around and sample the local cuisine. Once again thanks for making our stay a memorable one , we were in the area for our friends wedding and it’s a trip that will stay with us forever.

This is a lovely family hotel surrounded by vineyards and amazing views. It is tranquil, bus stop right outside so we could reach it without a car. The staff is amazing! Everyone were so kind, especially the owner Donatella. We specifically enjoyed Nina the dog as well ☺️ We had wine tasting in the hotel, strolled around the vineyards and received explanations from Donatella, the wine was delicious and I don’t even like red wine! Next to the hotel there is a tuscan restaurant with wonderful dinner. We swam in the pool although it was 17C outside and it was fun. Really memorable experience of tuscany. We really recommend this hotel!

Very nice hotel, good breakfast (including savory food) and very friendly staff. Andreas in particular was brilliant and he provided a shuttle service for a fair fee. Would have been nice to have a shorter walk into the old town from the hotel as quite a long detour walk (very scenic and beautiful though) had to be taken each day as public busses were not at all reliable. Definitely recommend the hotel though.
