Pebble Motel (Shanghai Lujiazui Yaohan Nanquan North Road)

The best time to visit Shanghai is in October and November, when temperatures are mild (18-24°C) and rain is less frequent. April and May are also pleasant, with warm days and moderate humidity. Avoid June through September, as it is hot and rainy, especially July and August with highs above 33°C and frequent downpours. Winter months are dry but chilly, with January and February seeing lows near 1-3°C.

For first-time visitors, stay near the Bund or People's Square for easy access to the waterfront and major sights. The former French Concession, around Xintiandi and Huaihai Road, suits those who enjoy tree-lined streets and cafes. Pudong's Lujiazui area is convenient for the skyscraper views and the Oriental Pearl Tower. The Langham Shanghai Xintiandi and Broadway Mansions Hotel are in these areas.

Start with the Bund for its skyline views across the Huangpu River, then cross to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and Shanghai Tower for observation decks. Yu Garden offers classic Ming-era gardens and old town charm, while Tianzifang is a maze of narrow lanes with shops and cafes. The is worth a visit for its ancient Chinese art collections.
