We intended to visit Sintra and travel everywhere within the town on foot. The guesthouse was our home base for four days. It's perfectly located about 15 minutes from the train station, near the major historic sites and the trails to the Moorish Castle and Pena Palace. There is a small shop nearby for snacks and numerous restaurants within walking distance. Our room was clean, quiet, large and comfortable with a private outdoor patio; elsewhere there is a living room area and a table and chairs overlooking the valley below where we enjoyed our takeout coffee and croissants. Staff were friendly and helpful, the air conditioning worked well (it was 90 F that week) and the room cost was extremely reasonable. Sintra, after the day trippers leave, is a really charming and beautiful town; staying there for a few days allowed us a head start on the crowds and the opportunity to visit the major sites hassle-free.

We stayed here for a quick overnight. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The location was great. We worked parking out eventually, but a little more guidance before we arrived would have been helpful (request a QR code). The rooms were comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay here again!

This is a rustic old building and as such so are the rooms. They are super clean, however, amenities are basic so if you are looking for modern with all frills this may not be the place for you. We were in Maria and the views are fabulous. The room did have a strong smell of mould which was quite overpowering at times. One thing, the windows were quite modern and opened out at my waist level, I am 5ft1 so would say small children would need careful supervision in this room (if children are allowed). The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, in particular Adriana was very helpful and accommodating. The location is fabulous right in the old town and not far from the Quinta da Regaleira. Lots of nice restaurants and cafes around. We had a fabulous stay and would like to thank all the staff at Palacio de Sintra for making us feel very welcome.

Wonderful location. Difficult to find at first. Be sure to read through any provided instructions in advance. Lovely staff and good, if simple, breakfast. The lodging is an incredible value; there are some things like a little wear and tear that should be expected given the price point. My knees hit the wall when using the toilet which I found amusing but people with less mobility may struggle. Each room and suite are different. I was in Miguel II. Incredible view and patio.

Well this was very disappointing. We read the reviews here on Google as well as other sites and it had such a great reputation that we were really disappointed with our experience. We got a larger room "suite" that was dingy and had several issues: First, the bathtub leaked all over the bathroom floor. Second, the last night there was some kind of leak coming from upstairs that flooded our room, fortunately it didn't damage anything but it wasn't fun to have water all over the floor. Third, the wifi was the worst I have ever experienced, it just never worked and when I inquired the young staff just said "try one of the other networks" no real concern or "sorry" just went back to her phone. Our friends were staying in the main "hotel" and had a horrible experience as well. The only nice thing about the hotel was the fact that it was in the old town. Also and finally, we tried repeatedly to get in touch with people from the hotel via WhatsApp, email etc and we never heard anything from them, nothing. Why have wifi or email if neither works? Just a bad experience overall, perhaps something has changed? Management? Employees? Ownership?

1/5 — Uncomfortable, Unclean, and Unprofessional Had a terrible experience and cannot recommend Palacio de Sintra Boutique House. I’m honestly baffled by the 4.4 rating — it doesn’t match reality at all. Cleanliness: The room was filthy. There were visible fingerprints and a thick layer of dust on the drawers and headboard. The bed had hairs of different lengths both on top of and beneath the sheets. Pillows were stained and also had hairs on them. Service: The receptionists were young and polite, but seemed untrained and unequipped for hospitality. When we raised these issues, they were not addressed appropriately. There were still hairs and dust on the bed after they looked into the matter. Room conditions: We stayed in September during cold, wet weather. There was no central heating in our room — only a small space heater that couldn’t keep up. The windows were single-pane and didn’t seal properly, so drafts made the room freezing at night. We were stuck because everything else in Sintra was fully booked. If we’d had any other option, we would have left immediately. I will never return and would strongly advise others to book elsewhere if the conditions remain the same.

Excellent location and good price. If the rooms were soundproofed, would rate this 4 or 5. As it is, outside sounds and adjacent guests disturb your sleep.

Stay at a romantic 200 year old boutique house. Right downtown Sintra 🇵🇹 walkable to the castles & palaces in the area. This is a family run business. Rooms with a view of the garden. Relax in the garden and ask about breakfast. Enjoy the view. Definitely a must visit.
