Palma Rooms B&B

The best time to visit Split is from May to June and September, when temperatures are warm (23-29°C) and rain is less frequent. July and August are the hottest and driest months, ideal for beach days but very warm. November is the rainiest month, with 14 rain days, so plan around that if you prefer dry weather.

Stay in the Old Town for the palace, Riva, and cathedral, with easy access to sights. The Riva area suits those wanting seafront promenades and cafes. Bačvice is great for beach lovers, with a sandy cove and nearby hotels like Hotel Park Split. Znjan offers a quieter, family-friendly beach stretch, with options like Palace Lidija and Radisson Blu Resort & Spa.

Start at Diocletian's Palace, the ancient Roman core of the city, and climb Saint Domnius' Cathedral for views. Stroll the Split Riva waterfront promenade, then hike Marjan Forest Park for nature and the Marjan viewpoint. Klis Fortress offers dramatic history above the city, and Split Golden Gate marks the old entrance.

You can take day trips to Krka Waterfalls, Plitvice Lakes, Hvar, Pakleni Islands, Blue Cave, and Šolta. Krka offers cascading falls and swimming, Plitvice has terraced lakes and boardwalks, Hvar and Pakleni are known for beaches and sailing, Blue Cave is a sea grotto, and Šolta is a quiet island with coves. These tours run full-day from Split.

Plan 3 days in Split: one for Diocletian's Palace, the Riva, and Saint Domnius' Cathedral, one for Marjan Forest Park and the viewpoints or Kašjuni beach, and one for Klis Fortress. If you want a day trip to Krka or Plitvice, add an extra day. Two days works if you skip the fortress or the park.
