THE most incredible location. Super safe, easy to get to and around. Would absolutely stay again. Rooftop bar has the most fabulous view. I'd skip the food but appreciated everything was 10% off with the YHA app's QR code. The first night was so boiling hot that sleep was near impossible, but staff listened with care the next day and the next night was fine. Great coffee and croissant the final morning at the in-lobby cafe. Next time I think I'll go for the breakfast as it looked pretty good being set up. A very unique place to stay, and in such an accessible spot. Appreciated the plaques with archeological info, and how easy it was to check in and out with 24/7 reception. Thanks for a memorable stay!

I stayed at the YHA The Rocks hostel in Australia for 6 days, and as my very first experience with this type of accommodation concept, it was simply excellent. Everything was wonderful, but what truly made our trip unforgettable was the outstanding hospitality of the staff. We want to express our deepest gratitude especially to the Manager, Thomas Perez. We are so incredibly grateful for all of his attention; he was highly professional, super attentive, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. On top of his constant help, guidance, and warmth, Thomas always went above and beyond, truly going the extra mile for us. It was a massive help and a huge relief that he speaks Spanish, which made navigating the city so much easier for us. Anne Marie at the front desk was also extraordinary. She has a soul that is completely dedicated to customer service and care. She always listened to us, made us feel so welcome, and helped us with the absolute best attitude. It would be fantastic if she were considered for an Assistant Manager role; she has incredible potential and would be a massive asset both to the company and to the guests. Over at the rooftop, Sydney and Thash were super nice and helpful. They were always looking after us, recommending options from the food menu and their great variety of drinks, wines, and beers. They also gave us excellent suggestions on where to go in Sydney and what to visit across this beautiful country. Australia has completely blown us away and left us in awe of its incredible hospitality. If I ever come back to Australia, this hostel will definitely be my first choice. First for the great location and facilities, but above all, for a staff that is worth a million or more. Highly recommended!

4 night stay for 3 adults in a room with a double bed and a single bed plus ensuite. Great location and decent value for money. Bar on rooftop closes randomly so you couldn’t plan to meet up for drinks with friends. Both nights we went on rooftop it was shut by 9pm! Haven’t used cooking facilities but they look decent. Great to see all the eco/environmental positives in place. I did make a cup of tea and could only find one mug and no teaspoons. Quite hilly when walking back from the opera house etc. Depending on who is staying it can be noisy (was woken up around 5am - to stomping feet and doors slamming). Staff seem pleasant.

We had a really nice stay here. The room was good, the location was convenient, and the view of the Sydney Opera House was absolutely fantastic. The breakfast was fine overall, although a little more variety would have been appreciated. Having some cheese and cold cuts would have been a nice addition. The rooms are a little soundproofing-wise on the lighter side, but that’s probably to be expected in a hostel. With a group of young people staying there, you can’t really expect everyone to quietly open and close doors at all times. 😊 A particular bonus was The Australian Heritage Hotel Restaurant right next door. We had a great experience there, and the Coat of Arms Pizza was absolutely fantastic! Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would be happy to stay here again.

The best hotel we stayed in during our time in Australia. We had a fantastic view from the room. The room isn't the biggest but i don't think it is a problem. The receptionists are really kind and helpful. The community space is also very good. There is a room where you can strore your luggage if you arrive before the room is ready. The restaurant and the bar on the top offers great variety of foods and drinks. It is worth trying because they are delicious.

This was an absolutely fantastic hostel with excellent facilities. The breakfast was great, there was a very good area for working, and the overall setup was extremely well thought out. I stayed in room 333 on the third floor, with direct access to the terrace. The view from there was incredible — you could see the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the surrounding area. The location is also excellent: The Rocks, Circular Quay and the CBD are all within a few minutes’ walk. You can really tell that the hostel is well managed. The staff were always friendly and helpful, everything was kept in very good condition, and the rooms were clean. I stayed in a four-bed room with a private toilet and bathroom, and everything was comfortable and well maintained. The hostel also keeps a good level of quiet, which I really appreciated. I came to Sydney to run the marathon, and I think this is an especially good place for anyone coming for a race or an active trip. You can rest properly, have a good breakfast, and there is also a very well-equipped kitchen where you can buy your own food, store it in the fridges and cook whatever you need. I was very happy with my stay and would definitely recommend this hostel.

Really great hostel experience overall. I felt welcomed by all the staff, and I was genuinely surprised by how many facilities it offers. The rooftop view was a standout feature and easily one of the highlights of my stay, exceeding what I’ve usually seen at other hostels. Having access to a well-equipped kitchen and a fully stocked café was very convenient and made the stay even more comfortable. The location is also excellent, just a short 5-minute walk to Circular Quay, which made getting around very easy. A special mention to the staff, who were all incredibly kind and helpful, especially Tomas, who was very friendly and easy to talk to. The room was also very clean, which made the whole experience even better.

Stayed here for 3 nights for the Sydney Marathon and overall had a really good stay. The location is great close to train stations and Opera House, but still in a quiet area. The staff were friendly, and the Wi-Fi was also very fast. I booked an ensuite room with a private toilet and it was comfortable for what I needed. The only thing I noticed was the flooring. I stayed in Room 218 and it seems to be timber, so you can sometimes hear footsteps from guests in nearby rooms, especially at night. It didn’t affect my stay, but just something to be aware of if you are very sensitive to noise. Overall, a good stay and a very convenient location, especially if you are visiting for the Sydney Marathon.
