A hostel with a lot of bedroom not too far from the train and bus stations. There are aso some good restaurant nearby. While the kitchen and the bathrooms are well equipped and clean, there are too few for the night when the hostel gets busy. We had to wait for showers half an hour on our first night but it was OK on our second night. Soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided, laundry detergent is free if you stay more than one night. ebike rental is available for 1000yen a day except in winter.

The hostel is in a beautiful old traditional wood house. The room I stayed at was very cosy and comfortable, even the futon had a heated blanket to warm me up in the coldest nights! They also offer shower products and there is warm water everywhere. The common spaces are lovely and the check in was easy even though it was fully remote by a video call with staff.

Old house, ryokan style. Well run by a team of staff. Welcoming. The atmosphere was good, with opportunities to meet other travelers or just to have a quiet time by yourself. Nice areas to eat, sit, recline. Clean washing areas, professional kitchen. Even a small beautiful garden. Slightly dusty feel in the bedrooms, understandably since it’s an early 1900s house. But I was the only one who noticed.

A truly fantastic hostel! Hostel Murasaki in Takayama exceeded all my expectations. Everything was spotless and very well maintained, the beds were comfortable, and the common areas were warm and inviting. The hosts are incredibly kind and make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The location is also perfect for exploring Takayama. For the price, this place offers an outstanding experience—highly recommended!

The location is great. The check in process was fast but lots to read, it can be tedious if you're tired after all that walking with heavy backpack. Place is clean and staff were friendly, but some staff could be communicate better. Overall enjoyed my stay.

We booked a room at Hostel Murasaki Miyagawa, where we were welcomed with good service. Unfortunately, when we arrived at our room, we found mouse feces on the tatami mats where we were supposed to sleep, as well as in a nearby storage area. When we informed the staff about it, they apologized and offered us accommodation in alternative rooms and locations to solve the problem. We emphasized that we would prefer to stay in the same room for 2 consecutive days, but this was not possible due to other bookings. Instead, we found a solution where we changed rooms twice. Despite what happened, it has been a good experience overall.

Lovely Hostel, built in an 100 year old house so feels really authentic. First place we stayed in with kitchen facilities and it was nice to cook our own food. Really good location in Takayama.
