Just returned from an unforgettable stay in Tamarindo at the Tamarindo Village Hotel. My wife and two teens (14/17) stayed for one week during a busy school travel period in March. The location is fantastic, although there are a few hills (Pura Vida!) it was an easy walk to Playa Tamarindo and the shops and food options in the centre of Tamarindo. Less than a 5 minute walk to Vindi (grocery store) and Plaza Via Condotti for dinner. We thank the hosts, Steve and Martha, as well as the entire staff for being so welcoming. We felt like we were returning home every night. It was close enough yet very quiet at night since it wasn't on the main strip. We woke up with the sun and birds as well as Howler Monkey calls. The atmosphere was overall a great vibe were guests respected each others time and space. Breakfast was always a delicious and energizing way to start our days with freshly cut fruit, toast, homemade jam, juice, selection of teas and really yummy coffee. We stayed in room 6 which is the first level poolside room. There is a small kitchen with sink, fridge/freezer, microwave. There's a TV and a big bed (king?) and a bunk bed (twins?) as well as a separate room with a very large bed. AC units in each room that were great. The bathroom is huge and connects between the main room and the bedroom. A massive stone shower, toilet, sink and a large mirror. There are plenty of towel hooks and towels were provided each day. Beach towels as well. The pool was always a perfectly refreshing temperature but was warm enough to stay in for a long time. It has steps and is 3 feet to 5 feet deep. The hotel is gated with a lock combo and very safe. We found the price to be fair for the size of the room, breakfast and location. Everything was very clean and comfortable.

We loved our stay at Tamarindo Village Hotel. My family chose one of the rooms with a second bedroom loft. It was located at the top of the hotel on a hill. I felt like I was in the jungle, removed from the tourists of town, yet we were very close (walking distance) to shops/grocery/restaurants and the beach. My favorite was that we had a private small dipping pool on our deck. Monkeys were playing in the trees daily. A large variety of birds were present as well. The entire property was very clean and well maintained. The owners keep the appliances up to date and the kitchenette was perfectly stocked with everything I needed but not too much. The breakfast was lovely. $7 for an ample amount of delicious food, or the buffet items are complementary. I love peaceful simplicity when I travel, and Tamarindo Village Hotel exceeded my expectations. We would be lucky to stay again.

The hotel’s main strengths are good AC, which was helpful for the dry season, and it being removed from downtown and quiet. The main issue is it is advertised and priced as a 4 star hotel when it’s definitely more in line with a 3 star one. We had decided to splurge on our final hotel of our trip in Costa Rica, and were a bit disappointed to find our most expensive hotel was a bit lower quality than the cheaper 3 star hotels we’d been staying at previously—which were also in popular tourist hubs. This was due to relatively small details—the bed was smaller than advertised (a full not a queen) and the free breakfast was only toast and fruit, everything else like eggs required additional payment. The stay was fine, just a bit overpriced in my opinion.

My husband and i stayed here for about 6 days. Ist time in Costa Rico. I had a wonderful preview of the trip from Trip Advisor. Steve and Martha were warm and gracious hosts. The hotel is a true boutique experience, every room was unique. Very bright and colorful. We had room 11 at the top of a lot of stairs. Every amenitie was provided for. We rented a car and drove around everyday. There are grocery stores and lots of beach front restaurants. Food was great. It rained a few days and a lot of roads were muddy with potholes but passable. Many of the hotels do require full mobility so if you are disabled its going to be tough getting around. Big plus was how interesting and kind everyone we met were. We never met a stranger. Great trip and thanks to our hosts for their warmth and kindness.

This is a lovely hotel close to the beach and restaurants/shops in town. The rooms were private and had a lot of space inside with everything you might need! Continental breakfast (pastries, bread, fruit, juice & coffee) is included in your stay. The owners are present and accessible for any questions or concerns you might have. There are some rooms that require stair access for those with mobility limitations. We would stay here again if we were visiting beautiful Tamarindo!

Excellent communication and highly professional service! Although a change in plans prevented us from staying this trip, our experience interacting with the team here was fantastic. They were exceptionally responsive and a pleasure to deal with. This level of care before even checking in assures me this is a top-quality hotel. Highly recommended!

We stay at the Tamarindo Village Hotel for one night before heading to our AirBnB for the rest of our trip. It is a unique jungle setting within walking distance to town. Even though the hotel is small there is privacy between rooms. The room was quite large, clean, a/c worked well. The room had 3 beds and ours was comfortable. The continental breakfast was enough for us however there were more options for a fee. The coffee was very good and we enjoyed it by the pool watching all the birds and listening to the monkeys. Thanks to Steve and the staff for an enjoyable first night in Tamarindo!

This hotel was very far from the beach. It was the uphill climb the whole way, not very enjoyable. The other things that happened was they were supposed to send the car for us and it never showed up. And the guy at the front desk, the owner didn't seem to care .Breakfast ham and egg Omelette and the ham was bad they leave the stuff sitting out too long while they're cooking, and it goes bad, very quick. I would not stay here again.
