The hotel is really beautiful, clean and comfy. But it’s not fair that it is presented with “air conditioning” (in a city with 38° in august) and the air conditioning is so loud and noisy we can’t keep it on during the night. That meant we didn’t rest well (because it was so hot) even if the bed was comfy. If it wasn’t for this it would have been a 5/5 stars.

Response from the property

(Translated by Google) Hello Lisa, thank you for your review. Air conditioning is one of our strengths, as you can see from our reviews. Best regards. (Original) Hello Lisa, gracias por tu evaluación. El aire Acondiconado es uno de nuestros puntos fuertes tal y como puedes ver en nuestras evaluaciones. Un saludo

Beautiful hostel/hotel. Easy to get into with code. Beautiful hallway with lots of plants. Room was spacious & clean. Good private shower & aircon. Didn’t have any problems with noise from other rooms, although you could hear others it wasn’t overly loud. Good location, try the Mexican restaurant near by!

Response from the property

Dear guest, thank you for your review!!

Nice room with comfortable bed. Very clean room and bathroom. We would recommend the hotel for a one night stay only since there was only one chair and no wardrobe as a result of which it was impossible to unpack. Absence of a guarded luggage room also was an inconvenience for us.

Response from the property

Dear Jenny, thank you for your review

Good for a night, no reception all done online, elegant and just fine for a solo traveler who comes for a night. Bathroom is good. Clean and nice neighborhood. Recommended for a person who want to enjoy the outdoors as this is located near main attractions

We never received any information for check-in to the hotel. So we stood outside the locked door waiting until we got lucky enough for someone else staying there to come through and let us in. Then we sat in the lobby for an hour trying to figure out what to do. Eventually we got some help with the door and room info but we were never asked to check in so all of them kept timing out. So we were constantly being locked out until eventually someone sent us the proper check in information. In total we spent about 3-4 hrs our first day there just sitting around in the heat waiting for people to maybe respond to us. It was horrible. Fix your check-in process. Also make it so people can call your WhatsApp number. We didn’t have a SIM card that allowed us to call your number so we had to go thru the booking agency to reach you. If we hadn’t had that we would have been sleeping on the floor in the lobby or potentially on the streets. Also there was no apology from your personnel to suggest any form of remorse for the issues all of this caused. Thanks for wasting an evening of my honeymoon… place was pretty though terrace was nice, minus the bird sh*t everywhere. Would have gotten a decent score from us but can never recommend because of the check-in issues. Most expensive place we stayed on the trip and all it did was cause anxiety and waste our day. EDIT: The hotel replied, rudely and incorrectly. I confirmed with hotels.com that the check-in information was incorrect for the hotel's website and made no sense, which they politely reimbursed me for Hotel Azacanes error. We also never received any information about check-in upon booking other than it was at 4 PM. We had a phone, just not one with an active cell signal (data only) and every other hotel we stayed at had a way for international guests to contact the hotel via data. This really seals the deal on the poor communication from the hotel. I have included the instructions provided on hotels.com which state that you cannot check- in until 4 PM but that if you arrive after 3 you should email them in advance. Why would I arrive before 3 without the ability to check in????? The hotel should automatically send you the information you need for check-in. Reaching out 24 hrs in advance while travelling is a ridiculous notion. There also is no host at the hotel. Makes 0 sense. Which no stars was possible. "Check-in time starts at 4:00 PM Check-in time ends at midnight There is no front desk at this property. If you are planning to arrive after 3:00 PM please contact the property in advance using the information on the booking confirmation. Guests planning to arrive outside of normal check-in hours will receive an email with special check-in instructions and an access code. The host will greet guests on arrival."

Tiny space but sufficient for one person. Wi-Fi was strong. No coffee pot but a kettle seems to be popular here. Comfortable bed. Great location.

Good: - The design and architecture are beautiful - Good price Ok: - Location is outside the city walls and you have to climb a pretty steep hill to get to historical center. Though the hotel is closer to bus and train stations - No staff, no reception. Check-In and Check-Out is done via internet. It will be good for introverted people, yet it feels a little creepy and ghosty feeling to hotel when you are all alone Bad: - The walls are made of paper, you can hear the neighbours easily: their voices, music and even water from the shower. You have to fix it somehow and install sound-proof isolation on the walls!! The biggest huge minus. - No food nor breakfast. You can at least install some snacks vending machine - No lockers. You cannot leave your bags. This problems can be solved easily, just buy and install lockers. Even museums have ones. - The room card doesn't work as a key. You have to manually put a pin code to open the door lock every time. What's the problem to put Recommendation: put a sofa/chair on the second floor in the hall for someone who realised they've got to check-in after the climbed the stairs. Doing so while standing is not convenient. It's easy to solve this problem, just buy a sofa or a couple of chairs

I stayed in this establishment for two nights in September. When I was unpacking I noticed that there were cockroaches in the room and when I wrote to the management there was no response. I booked this place through airbnb for a price of €250 per night so I excepted a better condition. The rooms are pretty small and management is rude. There are far more better options available in town for this price. Honestly, I’m surprised that this place has a ranking of 4+ on Google.

Frequently asked questions about Toledo

When is the best time to visit Toledo?

The best times to visit Toledo are May, June, September, and October, when temperatures are mild and rainfall is lower. July and August are the hottest months, often exceeding 30°C, while December and January are the coolest and wettest. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable conditions for exploring the city's outdoor sights and streets.

Which area should I stay in in Toledo?

Stay in the historic center, around the Cathedral and Plaza de Zocodover, for easy access to the Alcázar and main sights. The area suits first-time visitors and those wanting to be in the heart of the old town. The Cigarrales, across the Tagus River, offer a quieter, scenic stay with views of the city, ideal for a relaxed visit. Hotels like Hotel Maria Cristina and Hotel Hacienda del Cardenal are in the center, while Cigarral de Caravantes is in the Cigarrales area.

What are the must-see attractions in Toledo?

Start with the Alcázar de Toledo, a fortress with sweeping views over the city. The Toledo Cathedral is a Gothic masterpiece with rich art. Cross the San Martin's Bridge for a classic photo of the Tagus gorge. The Puerta de Bisagra is the grand old city gate. For a quieter look, visit the Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes, with its ornate cloister, and the Sinagoga de Santa María La Blanca, a rare example of Mudéjar architecture.

What day trips can I take from Toledo?

The full-day tours from Toledo go to Madrid, a day trip for its royal palace, museums, and Retiro Park, and to a luxury winery in the surrounding region for tastings and vineyard views. For other options, well-known day trips from Toledo include Aranjuez, with its royal palace and gardens, and Consuegra, famous for its windmills. A day trip needs an extra day beyond your time in Toledo itself.

How many days do I need in Toledo?

Two days in Toledo lets you see the Alcázar, the Cathedral, and the San Martín and Alcantara bridges, plus the Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes and the Sinagoga de Santa María La Blanca. If you want to add a day trip to a winery or a private tour from Madrid, plan for a third day. One full day covers the main sights, but two days give you a relaxed pace to enjoy the Mirador del Valle and the smaller churches.
