Breakfast Options: Some guests mention the breakfast buffet can be basic, so those with kitchen-equipped bungalows may prefer making their own meals.
Parking Payment: A guest reports the parking payment system was unclear and resulted in a fine, so it's worth confirming how to pay with the front desk on arrival.

Beautiful hotel by the water. Views were gorgeous, food was great for breakfast. Pool was cold in the morning which was great during the heatwave. The bathroom had glass walls but didn't have any blackout curtains so our toddler didn't go to sleep easily. We plan on going back again.

This resort is stunning. We stayed in an ocean view bungalow and could not fault it - it has a double bedroom and 2 bunkbeds in a separate room with a shared large bathroom. There is also a separate WC, lounge and a huge patio area, as well as room to sit out at the front. The bungalow was well stocked with all you needed. You have breakfast in the main hotel and it was really quite lovely - great food and a fab selection. I honestly could not fault our stay. Thank you to all staff.

Stayed for a long weekend, 2 adults and 2 kids. Can’t find anything to complain about, it was a great experience and the breakfast buffet was perfect for everyone. We had a pretty and clean ocean view room with an amazing terrace. The location is close enough for a nice stroll to the old town and harbor area. Would stay again and can highly recommend it.

I wish I had booked our entire stay here. The value for money is about the best I have ever had.

They just forced me to cancel my booking with the explanation that there was a mistake and my rate did not include breakfast, do please cancel and rebook with a higher price( btw. previous one was also 30% higher then any other solid hotel in Visby…). I did book another hotel. Interestedly enough, they did not have any rooms available for my dates… It’s end of October and not high season, so should not be the problem. So, my assumption, they got a big booking for conference or something and this is their way of cleaning space. Terrible.

The hotel is very well located. Modern, nice building with good facilities. Good size rooms but charm and ambiance are missing. Cleaning is fine. The service in the restaurant is unfortunately very poor. The waiters at the breakfast were unpleasant, cleaning the tables was not automatic, refilling and cleaning the breakfast bar either. In such an elegant restaurant the service level must be much higher for the value. At the reception it was difficult to get answer to some simple questions. The pool bar repair was ongoing with a lot of noice, something which could have been scheduled may be earlier when the pool is not yet open or frequently visited. If they are ready to raise the service level this could be the best hotel around Visby.

A well spent week in one of the hotels bungalows. We enjoyed both the sea and the hotel's pool, kept heated even this late in the season. Breakfast was a bit basic, but considering our room came with a kitchen - we ended up making our own breakfast most days. :-) As for the sights in Visby, available by a short 10-15 minute walk, or 5 minutes by car if you did like us and brought it with you on the ferry.

Basic family hotel with outdoor pool. We had a good size apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Considering the high price the breakfast is quite poor by Swedish standards. Cheap cuts of meat, no fish, no salad, poor choice of breads.|Parked here for one night and tried to work out the parking system which didn’t work as I got a 600 SEK fine next morning. Pity when a 3 star hotel which charges 4000 SEK per night and has plenty of parking space has to charge guests extra to park their car.

Frequently asked questions about Visby

When is the best time to visit Visby?

The best time to visit Visby is from late May through September, when temperatures are mild and pleasant, with June and July being the warmest months. August is the rainiest stretch, so plan for occasional showers if you go then. The famous Medieval Week festival in August draws crowds, but the weather is still good for exploring the town wall and beaches.

Which area should I stay in in Visby?

Stay in the medieval town center, called Visby Innerstad, where most sights and hotels cluster; it suits first-timers who want to walk everywhere. The quiet, leafy area around Almedalen park is ideal for those wanting a calm, scenic base, with several hotels nearby. The harborfront along Strandgatan offers convenient access to restaurants and water views, good for couples. For a more local, less central feel, the area near the botanical garden is a pleasant choice, though you'll walk a bit more.

What are the must-see attractions in Visby?

Visit the Lummelunda Cave for its dramatic limestone formations and underground lake. The Great Square is the old town's central meeting point, lined with medieval houses and cafés. Stroll through DBW's Botanical Garden to see a wide range of plants in a peaceful setting. Almedalen is a large park that hosts summer events and offers calm greenery near the coast. Gotland Museum brings the island's story to life with Viking and medieval artefacts.

What day trips can I take from Visby?

The full-day tour from Visby covers the city itself, so for a day trip, head to Lummelunda Cave, a dramatic limestone cave system with guided walks. Högklint Viewpoint offers sweeping coastal views, and South Hällarna Nature Reserve has rugged cliffs and sea stacks. These are all reachable by car or bus from Visby.

How many days do I need in Visby?

Plan 2 to 3 days in Visby. In two days, you can see the Town Wall, walk the Great Square, visit the Gotland Museum, and explore Almedalen and the botanical garden. Add a third day for a trip to Lummelunda Cave or the Högklint Viewpoint, or to take the full-day city tour. If you want to include a day trip, plan an extra day beyond that.
