Google· 3 weeks agoStayed at the Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square and loved it. The location is perfect—right by the White House and Lafayette Square, with an easy walk to the Metro. The room was perfect, and the staff was genuinely warm and attentive without being overbearing. The people at the bar and in the breakfast restaurant were especially great, really nice, very attentive, and they made the whole stay feel personal. Breakfast was a highlight: fresh, well-prepared, and the French toast was absolutely delicious. I’d go back just for that. The bar and restaurant downstairs are also great for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. A couple of small notes for couples: the shower was a bit tight, and there was only one bathrobe in the room. It would be helpful if the hotel asked whether guests are traveling as a couple so they could set up two robes ahead of time instead of waiting for people to request another. Would definitely stay here again—great pick for both business and leisure.

Google· 3 weeks agoThis luxury property near the White House offers an outstanding stay, complete with expansive rooms and warm, accommodating public areas. The hospitality is excellent, with a friendly staff that makes a fantastic first impression. Regrettably, the culinary experience doesn't match the accommodations. The restaurant's food and specially the service fell short of expectations and didn't align with the hotel's otherwise stellar luxury experience.

Google· 2 weeks agoNot even close to a 5 star hotel, maybe a polished 3. Everything feels and is old. Breakfast is included for us, and our waiter was awful. Waited 10+ minutes for coffee while 3 other guests seated after me with a different waiter got theirs. Room is meh. Mattress needs replacing ASAP, you sink in, in an uncomfortable way; it has zero support. TV is a million years old. It's a "smart TV" with no casting, no Netflix, no YouTube, nothing. AC is awful and inconsistent. Thermometer reads 71 and we set it to 69, and it just sat there for an hour turned off before finally getting the memo. Room service options at night are very limited. And there is a basement gym, but there is no back or leg equipment, no cable machines, and not even a pull-up bar. Overall it's just... OK. But for a "5 star" hotel with a price like this, it's pretty awful. Worst part is the breakfast staff. Please, someone, do something about that.

Google· 3 months agoThis was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. The bed and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. The staff was rude and did not seem to care about the customer. The room was hot and had a hard time staying cold. The fact that we were told to use valet parking and to give a 20 minute notice was incorrect. We did the 20 minute notice and still had too wait almost 30 minutes. Most meetings start around 730 am and no breakfast was available until after we left. We showed up in the lobby for coffee a 6 am and when asked how much longer before the coffee we got a rude response of I don’t know. Asking for additional water bottles seemed to be a challenge. If you decide to workout in the morning and do cardio outside you will be questioned and told you can’t come in, even if you have a room key. Over all I would not recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the DC area.

Google· 2 months agoThis was right by the metro, a lot of attractions so it was always pretty easy to get somewhere. I didn't interact much at all with the staff but they followed which door sign I put up, the rooms were super clean and everything worked. I do wish there was a microwave because I can never eat an entire dinner at once - but thst doesn't make it any less pleasant of an overall stay. The bed was very soft, not in a good way, and felt like there were indentations of people sleeping in them over years. I loved everything but the bed comfort here. Made me wonder how old the mattress was. Besides that I truly loved it - and everything but the door to the room is sounds proofed, they used the room next to mine for storage so due to the adjoining door, I could hear everything in there, also everything in the hallway. But still, not complaining about that noise level. Overall I would 100% stay here again, loved the place and the location. There's also a restaurant downstairs you're supposed to have reservations for. I didn't go but wish I would've tried something off their menu because it looked good. My view was of the building right next to me in an alley way.

The onsite restaurants are great to dine and dash or sit on the patio to catch game and enjoy the fresh fall air while eating an amazing Caesar salad with grilled shrimp, short rib lasagna or sipping a beautifully crafted cocktail by one of the bartenders. Let’s get into these rooms babyyyy! Think… Plush, luxurious, elegant decor, linens and bathroom accessories. The suites are top tier!! Designed to be your home away from home with all the amenities to make your stay pleasant and hassle free.. The staff is amazing super knowledgeable helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend

Google· 2 months agoPros: -Excellent Location: Perfectly situated within walking distance to everything you want to see (the White House, museums, etc.). Highly walkable area. -Room Comforts: The AC cools the room efficiently, and the shower has great water pressure. -Surprisingly Quiet: Given the busy location, the room was remarkably well-insulated from street and traffic noise. Cons: -Annoying AC Noise: Even though it cools well, the AC unit (in our room at least) emitted a very irritating, high-pitched whistling sound every time it kicked on. -Parking Pricing & Junk Fees: Parking is an exorbitant $70/night plus tax (another $12). They also tack on a ridiculous "Urban Experience Fee." What exactly is the urban experience here? The psychotic homeless individuals right outside the hotel? - Subpar Service & Billing Errors: Service was incredibly "meh" compared to other Sofitel properties I’ve stayed at. I sent messages to the staff during my stay that went completely ignored. Upon checkout, I had to audit my bill to remove a bunch of tick-tack extra charges, including them failing to waive the breakfast charges that were supposed to be complimentary for my specific stay. - Inflexible Room Service: I tried to order a simple scoop of gelato late at night, and they refused because it wasn't specifically on the late-night menu. You don't need to charter a helicopter to Italy to just open a fridge and scoop some pre-made ice cream. - Accessibility Issue: The toilet uses a stiff push-button flush that would be very difficult for anyone dealing with arthritis.
