My husband and I stayed at Hotel Montego for only one night. We arrived by train from Porto and the public shuttle to town from the station left us exactly at the hotel entrance. The location is perfect. There are several cafes and restaurant within a radius of 100 meters. The room was comfortable and although we were in the first floor, it was quiet and we slept wonderfully. Both the room and the bathroom were clean and well equipped: soft pillows, toiletries, hairdryer, tv, wi-fi, everything we needed. On the roof there is a nice cozy bar where we had coffee and toast looking at the university in front of us which adds to the magic atmosphere of the place. However, the best of all was the lady who welcomed us as we checked in. She was so kind! She recommended us the best way to go to the university (Uber) and wrote the website for us to buy the tickets online recommending us to be there early which we did and was definitely thanks to her. All and all, including a very nice breakfast, it was great value and made our memories of Coimbra as great as expected.

We both really enjoyed our short 2 night stay. We took a taxi from the railway station as the local station next to the hotel is no longer in use. Check-in was swift and courteous by a young lady who spoke flawless English.|The room was a reasonable size, not huge, but big enough for two, modern design, and very clean. It had all the amenities we needed, safe, coffee maker, storage space, aircon, TV with international channels, a comfortable bed. And the bathroom was good too.|Breakfast was very nice, better than in other 3 star hotels on this trip. Fresh orange juice, a good choice of fruit and cereals, lovely local cheeses and charcuterie, good bread, excellent coffee, and some hot dishes.|We enjoyed the rooftop bar which affords a fantastic view of Coimbra up on the hill. We went for a pre-dinner drink on both evenings. The cocktails I had were expertly mixed by a very friendly, yet efficient young female bartender. |There are several restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, but the main pedestrian street and the town centre is only a short walk away. |All the staff we encountered very friendly, very polite, and helpful. We would stay again, if we ever returned to Coimbra , even if the price was a little steep.

Hotel is located near the Coimbra old town center. The location is great. The breakfast has good choices. The room is clean and spacious, though the bathroom fan is always on and we can smell some odor, but it doesn't bother us much.

A wonderful hotel in the centre of this lovely town. Historic but modernized, spotlessly- clean rooms, very reasonable rates and professional, courteous staff. David, who served at the cosy rooftop bar, was outstanding: one of the kindest and most obliging staff members you could wish for. Ines also deserves a special mention. But ALL the staff were a credit to this fine hotel.

I stayed five nights at Hotel Mondego in Coimbra. The location is very good. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was good although there weren't any skimmed yoghurts. Everything was very clean. Unfortunately, my room was very small and dark and the toilet was quite small too. The minibar was inside the wardrobe and consequently my clothes were boiling hot, hence I had to keep the wardrobe open throughout my staying. I paid 770€ which is totally unacceptable, taking into consideration the conditions of the room. I am not going to ask for a refund. However, an apology would be appreciated.

We had a wonderful stay! The staff is fantastic and always present. Breakfast was excellent' the room was quiet and cozy. The skybar a welcome sight after a day of walking in Coimbra! We were sad that we had to leave ...

Very clean, modern and nice smelling. Bring conditioner if you need it for your hair. Bring facial soap too..bathroom only has shampoo, body wash and soap for hands. Only usb-A outlets for devices. Breakfast was great. And nice view from rooftop of the university. Also very quiet, no sounds from other rooms or outside!

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Mondego in Coimbra. The hotel was incredibly clean, modern, and very well maintained. Its central location made everything so easy—there are plenty of great restaurants within walking distance, which was a huge plus. The staff truly stood out. Everyone was welcoming, helpful, and genuinely pleasant, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The only thing to note is that the hotel doesn’t offer on-site parking, but there is a convenient paid parking option just around the corner for about $20 a night, which worked out perfectly. Overall, a fantastic place to stay in Coimbra—I would absolutely return.
