Dauji Mandir
Dauji Mandir stands in Khair, a small town in Hathras district of western Uttar Pradesh, in the cultural zone called "Braj ki Dehri"—the threshold to Braj, the legendary land of Krishna. The name Dauji is the affectionate Braj-language title for Balarama, Krishna's elder brother, and this temple serves the local community as a place of daily devotion and seasonal gathering. Though it lacks the scale and fame of the great Dauji shrine at Baldeo further south, the temple earns its place in a traveler's day for its quiet atmosphere and an old structure that one visitor compared to the intimate feel of the Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan.
