This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at Verne Dreaming and it was just as wonderful.|We stayed in the Shanghai Suite which has beautiful decor, the comfiest bed (it's a soft mattress which induces sleep like no other place that we've stayed in!), a huge role top bath and wet room with an amazing rainfall head shower. It's so refreshing and a bit decadent. We absolutely love it there and then after a day's walking there is the hottub outside which is sheltered from the heat so it's a great place to relax.|Vincent is a welcoming and very friendly host (again he let us leave our bags there during the last day after check out)|Ghent has so many wonderful places to explore, we're already planning a trip back for next year.|The only thing some couples might not like is the lack of a doorway to the toilet (but it is hidden around the corner) so if you are precious about that then maybe it's not for you. |It's such a lovely suite, lots of great bars and restaurants nearby (and a mini Carre Four right opposite too which came in very handy)

This is not as advertised at all, it feels like a student house. The owner came to greet us but there was ironing going on in the kitchen. The rooms have no facilities and there are no curtains and the kitchen is like a shared grubby little space. My daughter and I slept in the same room as the other one had a door with no privacy. This feels like a grim university house rather than a boutique residence. Don’t waste your money and stick to what you know!

Luxurious, spacious and immaculately detailed suite (my wife and I stayed in the Shanghai suite) The massive shower room, hot tub outside (not to mention the standalone bath we didn't use) all added to a wonderful stay. But best of all was the bed! I've not had sleep like it in years, was like sleeping on a cloud. After lots of walking around Ghent it was the perfect way to recharge our batteries.

Great experience (Shanghai room)! The host was very friendly and made us feel right at home. The room was beautiful, lots of space and both the bath and shower were amazing. We visited during some of the hottest days of Gent, but the outside terrace gave us a great place to cool down and just relax. We enjoyed our stay very much. Proximity to the city is also a big plus.

Disappointing… I booked the green Oxford room because of the beautiful pictures online and the lyrical reviews here below. The room was as beautiful as expected - but a closer look and the actual use of the room created a different experience. It needs maintenance: some lights were broken, several small tiles of the bathroom mosaic floor were missing, the toilet door had an open gap of 10 cm (no privacy), and worst of all: the mattress was very soft and from poor quality, too small for the wooden bed structure (could look straight at the slatted base) and the sheets and pillowcases had holes… Booking a room is mainly to have a nice place to SLEEP, the quality of the bed should get a minimum of attention! That’s the least you may expect - especially for this money. The room was also noisy but I guess that’s to be expected from an old house - it’s just annoying that other guests didn’t really mind the sound they produced, coming home late at night. Nevertheless: the sanitation is very luxurious and the bath tub is a real treat. The room was clean. And we could leave our bags for some hours after checking out. Please note there is NO breakfast possibility, like you read in earlier reviews! Summarized: couldn’t help the feeling that asking €155,- per night without taking responsibility for maintenance, is an easy way of earning money.

We stayed in the beautiful green Oxford room which is a tranquil and charming space. There is a beautiful interaction between the space, the colour and the furniture. The room is bright and airy despite the intense colour palette and the period details (cornice in particular) add to the sense of space. The bed is comfortable and spacious and we found it hard to get up in the morning! Although Verne dreaming is on quite a busy road we found the room to be quiet - it might be a little louder in the summer if you have the windows open all night. The shower is huge and the water pressure is great. We didn't have a chance to fill the bath which is my one regret of the stay! There was also some lovely smelling hand wash and shampoo which was quite unexpected. The rest of the building is also beautifully detailed and furnished - there is exceptional attention to detail in the styling. The common kitchen area has a pod coffee machine, kettle, teas, a fridge and some delicious little chocolates. We made our own breakfasts and ate them in our room before setting out exploring. There are some excellent bars and restaurants nearby - Horn Ok Please is a fantastic Indian restaurant and Trollekelder has all the beers and atmosphere you could ever want. These are both within a couple of minutes walk. A little further and you could be on the main square and deep into the old Town. Vincent was very helpful and let us leave our bags for a couple of hours when we checked out. We'll be back next time we're in Gent to be sure.

My husband and I stayed in the Berlin room for 3 nights for our honeymoon. We didn’t get to the Airbnb (it is NOT a bed and breakfast) until 11 pm due to flight delays. The owner told us there would be a lock box to get the keys and gave us a key code. Well turns out there is NO WAY to get to the lock box from the street. So we were stranded outside at 11pm after traveling 16 hours. The owner didn’t pick up his phone when we tried calling. The only reason we got into the building was pure luck as another couple who was staying there showed up at the same time. So already we started here with a bad experience. The rest of our stay was just okay. The room was nice, but no air conditioning and the building faces the street which can be loud. Our shower drain was clogged, which the owner fixed the next day. The location of the place is very good. There were no instructions on check in or check out, no written down rules for staying, and overall the feeling was just generally unprofessional. Our last night here was probably the worst experience of our honeymoon. At around 3am I heard drunk men in the building and banging on our room door. I ignored it and hoped they would go away. At 4am drunk men came back and continued to bang on our door. I woke my husband up. Apparently someone in the building didn’t lock the front door of the building. I was very scared. The drunk men came off the street and tried to open our personal door to our room. Thank god I locked it. They were saying things like “you know it’s dangerous to leave your front door open”. I tried calling the owner numerous times while this was happening. Sure enough AGAIN the owner didn’t pick up his phone. He actually left it in the office downstairs which I know because we heard it ringing. My husband told the men to leave and we were not leaving the room. The men left around 430am. AND THEN from 430-6am loud party music was coming from downstairs. we called the owner AGAIN and then realized the music was coming from his phone because the music would stop when we called. So on top of actually being scared for my safety, we stayed up the rest of the night having to listen party club music blasting from the first floor. The owner came over and apologized in the morning, of course not addressing the fact that his clients have no way of reaching him when an emergency happens. He did not address the severe safety breach. And then came up with a ridiculous excuse for the music turning on. He then had the audacity to try and say when we come back we would get a free night at the other Airbnb he owns called Shelter7. No sir I would never in a millions years stay at a place you own. This was the most unprofessional and ridiculous experience I have ever had on a vacation.

Falsely Advertised - not as described all facilities mentioned are shared not for individual rooms,|No curtains in windows including the bathroom, overlooked very uncomfortable experience. Host not there when we arrived despite keeping him updated as to what time we would arrive nor were they there for us to voice our concerns. Moved out as nothing like the advertising. Refused to give refund despite the misleading advertising!
