The hotel was beautiful, clean, and the room was quite spacious, just like the pictures. We really liked the design and vibe of the hotel. The bed was comfortable as well. The location of the hotel is very strategic as well, as it’s very near to Komachi Street and many convenient stores were just next to the hotel or around the corner. However, it would be better if clear instructions could be given at the ground floor of the hotel, as it took us quite a while to be able to get access and find our way to the hotel lobby, which is located on the upper floor. The staff were unable to communicate in English at all and made it rather difficult to ask them questions regarding the promotional parking rates offered by the hotel. Though a kettle is provided in the room and hot water is provided in the hotel lobby, it would also be better if hot water is made available at every level of the hotel.

This hotel is within easy walking distance of the JR station, with flat and convenient access—perfect for rolling luggage. What I loved most is how beautiful the hotel is. The design is very MUJI-style—minimal, clean, and extremely aesthetic. The entire hotel smells amazing, which adds to the overall experience. The room itself is spacious enough to fully open suitcases and even includes a comfortable sofa area. Amenities are very complete—they even provide eye masks and foot patches, which is a thoughtful touch. Overall, it’s a beautiful, minimal-style hotel with an excellent location. I would definitely come back if I visit Kamakura again. P.S. There’s a MUJI store and a The North Face shop right next to the hotel, which is super convenient.

We stayed here for a night when we visited Kamakura over a couple of days. The location is great, being near the JR train station and also near the center of town. The zen-like design of the hotel and the room was wonderful in creating a sense of peace and goodwill. The room was a good size, and the large twin beds were comfortable. There was ample room to lay out the suitcases as well. They are strict about check in and check out times - 3 pm and 11 am respectively - but can hold the luggage for you. In fact, upon check in, they had already delivered our bag to the room. The staff were friendly and helpful and aided us to make a dinner reservation. Breakfast was included, and was at the Muji shop downstairs. There was ample food and drink choices as well. There was also a Family Mart located next door, which was super convenient. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Kamakura.

A pleasant, clean and tidy hotel. Its location is really good and close to the temple. The room is spacious and large with all the electrical products you need. There were umbrellas that we could ask for. The only downside is that there is no onsen, but I won't lower my score for that. We put our luggage in the morning and when we got there to check in, they were already waiting for us in the room, which was really fun. There is a Muji store in the lobby. If I will return to Kamakura in the future, I will definitely come and stay there.

The hotel is conveniently located next to Gora Station & bus stops, which is of great help to us as we arrived on a rainy day. The hotel environment is quiet and comfortable, which provides a sense of relaxation.Key highlight is the onsen – the different hot springs are thoughtfully designed, with unique characteristics for both indoor and outdoor options. Too bad, we didn’t get to enjoy the private onsens as they were occupied. The hot bath included in the room has nice view of the surrounding mountains. Snacks available at the lobby are very delicious. you can choose the correct size of your yukata. Complimentary ramen is available at every night. The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful.As we were staying at a different building, we needed to walk through some stairs from the lobby building and we have 2 large luggage to carry up the stairs. Some room for improvements here. We have opted for the dinner and breakfast. The Japanese Kaiseki course is simply delicious and there was so much food in the course. Local ingredients are used in the well-designed food dishes. Highly recommended.

We loved this hotel from the moment we arrived. The design and the trees in the courtyard create a beautiful and welcoming atmosphere. I decided to write this review after reading a few comments mentioning difficulties communicating in English. Our check-in was smooth, and the staff explained everything clearly in English. All forms and information were provided in both Japanese and English. The staff were friendly, courteous, and very service-minded, and we had absolutely no issues with communication. We also really like our room. The bed is very comfortable, with two different pillow options for each person, and the amenities are a lovely touch — bath salts, cosmetic kits, eye masks, and more. Overall, we are very happy with our stay. Regarding some of the previous comments and negative reviews: When traveling to another country, I always keep in mind that I am a guest there. Of course it is helpful when people speak English, but even when it is not perfect, communication always works out. That is part of the experience of visiting a different culture.

Lovely hotel in a great location! Hotel Metropolitan Kamakura is housed in a very modern Zen style building, with a Muji store and cafe sharing the street level. The hotel & room furnishings are new and the rooms are well apportioned . Needless to say, the hotel rooms are very clean & come with all the usual amenities. Our triple sharing room was spacious and comfortable. See photo. The hotel is a stone’s throw from Kamakura station (Enoden & other railway lines) and a short walk from Komachi Street - the main shopping street with lots of cafes and shops. If you are driving to Kamakura, Hotel carpark is limited but do not worry as the hotel has a service agreement with 3 public carparks (Times Carpark) just around the hotel block. For a 24 hour block for car parking: - the hotel carpark rate is 2,000 Yen; - the 3 specified public carparks around the hotel are priced at 1,300 Yen (discounted rate for hotel guests) We ended parking at the one of the 3 public carparks just behind the hotel; and leaving the car there for the one+ day we spent in Kamakura. We moved around by foot and Enoden railway. The map showing the 3 public carparks (around the hotel) and how to pay at the discounted 1,300 Yen rate (tie up with Metropolitan hotel) is attached, in English. I am sharing this info for international travellers as the hotel staff could not adequately communicate this with me via email prior to my check in date, which resulted in some inconvenience for my family when we arrived at the hotel at night & struggled to get our car parked. I subsequently got the said car parking information & discounted rates from one of the front desk staff (our compliments to Kenya Otaka). There is a well stocked Family Mart just beside the hotel; and an excellent tonkatsu restaurant, Aratama Katsu Tei, just across the street (see photo). I would recommend this hotel to visitors staying in Kamakura.

Not a posh hotel but perfectly good for one night and we could have done longer. Central, an easy walk from the station even with luggage and the station is also the restaurant and tourist district so lots of food options. Staff competent and friendly. |K is not a posh town, rather provincial and very relaxed compared to most of Japan. If you want the temple gardens, they are a 5 minute ride up the Tokyo railway to kita-kamakura. Trains every 10 mins too.|Battleship Mikasa, Japan's HMS Victory, is a 30 minute train ride away at Yokosuka and worth the effort.|The enoden railway will take you along the coast to Japan's version of Blackpool and great views of Mount Fuji.
