AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Circuit Beach is a small, easily-missed cove tucked into the rocky shoreline of Lilli Pilli, a quiet holiday community in the Eurobodalla on the NSW South Coast. Reached off George Bass Drive south of Surf Beach and about ten minutes' drive from Batemans Bay, it occupies a narrow gap between headlands where a short stretch of coarse sand and cobble curves out to a low reef, with a handful of weathered boat sheds huddled at its southern end. Its name hints at the real reason people come: it is one stop on a beloved coastal circuit walk linking Lilli Pilli beach to Grandfather's Gully.↗↗↗
What gives the place its charm is a feeling of seclusion that the bigger, busier South Coast beaches have lost. The cove is hemmed by rugged headland and bushland, the water runs a striking shade of blue against striped sandstone cliffs, and the surrounding tracks offer sweeping ocean views, a chance to spot migrating whales offshore, and an all-times dog-friendly stretch of sand. It rewards visitors who come for the walking, the wildlife and the wildness of the coastline more than for a polished beach experience.↗
