AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Kletterwald Grünheide bei Berlin is a treetop ropes and high-seil course set in the woods on the north shore of Lake Werlsee, a short drive southeast of Berlin. Its appeal is the combination on offer in one visit: up to six climbing courses strung between the trees, and right at your feet the sandy public beach of the Werlsee, where you can plunge in and relax after you have finished in the harness.↗↗
The courses run from a low toddler trail for the very young to demanding lines in the high canopy, with roughly 88 climbing elements in total spread across about a kilometre of route. Whether you come for a serious physical challenge, a family day out, a team event or a class trip, the draw here is the same: active fun in a pine forest that opens onto a proper lake swimming spot.↗↗↗
Climb the six courses
The heart of the visit is the roped trail network, and it is deliberately built so that almost anyone can find their level. The gentlest line is a Kleinkinder (toddler) course kept low, at a maximum of about 1.5 metres, where children roughly four to seven can scamper and swing under supervision. Above that, the regular courses step up in height and difficulty: a first trail at around three metres takes you over a zig-zag rope, a chequerboard bridge and a rowboat you climb straight through; higher lines add a swinging "battering ram", a skis bridge and a toboggan run you can slide even in summer, plus a wobbly Rio bridge and a sailboard you have to traverse.
