Getting There and Visiting

Massacre is a coastal village roughly five kilometres north of Roseau along the Edward Oliver Leblanc Highway, the main road running the leeward coast. The drive from the capital is about ten minutes. The park sits within this commuter and residential corridor, close to the Massacre River mouth and the flat coastal land that characterises the area.↗↗

About the Area

Massacre takes its name from the tragic 1674 killing of Kalinago residents by English colonial forces under Colonel Philip Warner. A public mural in the village centre commemorates this event. Today the village is a lively, compact community known for its sports facilities and local food establishments along the highway. Pairing a visit to Bubbles Fun Park with an evening stroll along the coast or a stop at a local Kwéyòl eatery gives a sense of everyday Dominican family life away from the tourist trail.↗↗
