AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Perched on a vineyard ridge near the quiet village of Vál, about thirty kilometres southwest of Budapest, the LOVE sculpture is a monumental wire-frame artwork that has become one of Hungary's most photographed and emotionally resonant landmarks. Created by Ukrainian artist Alexander Milov and first unveiled at Burning Man in Nevada in 2015, the piece was purchased by a Hungarian winemaking couple in 2017 and installed on their Haraszthy estate, where it now gazes over rolling hills and rows of grapevines.↗↗
The sculpture depicts a man and a woman sitting back-to-back, turned away from each other in apparent estrangement, their bodies formed from thousands of interlocking wires. Inside each figure, a pair of glowing children reach toward one another through the metal lattice — a powerful image of the love and longing that persists beneath the surface of conflict. Standing roughly 10 metres tall and 16 metres wide, the work commands attention on the hilltop while the panoramic view from the ridge amplifies its emotional weight.↗↗
