AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Sri Ramalayam is a small, devotee-run temple to Lord Rama set on the leafy northeastern edge of Secunderabad, near Kundanpally and Cheeriyal village in Keesara. Far from the crowded city shrines, it is prized for exactly what its name promises: the calm, unhurried atmosphere of an abode of Rama, where half the grounds are left as open plantation and the day is filled with the chanting of the Vishnu Sahasranamam.↗↗
It is a simple temple rather than a grand monument, but that restraint is its appeal. Visitors come for quiet darshan, to have pujas performed by a priest who takes the time to explain each ritual, and to sit in a space that several reviewers describe as feeling completely isolated from the city.↗

What makes it worth a visit
Ramalayam means "the abode of Rama," and this temple keeps to that spirit. The main focus is Lord Rama, and devotees also find an idol of Anjaneyaswami (Hanuman) on the premises, a fitting companion at any Rama shrine. The temple's regular recitation of the Vishnu Sahasranamam—the thousand names of Vishnu—gives the place a continuous devotional hum that visitors single out as the reason the grounds feel so serene.
