AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Sunnmørsbadet is a large, sun-warm indoor water park in the coastal town of Fosnavåg on Norway's Sunnmøre coast. Spread over about 6,400 m², it packs a 25-metre competition pool, a wave pool, a stream channel, two water slides, a diving tower and a full wellness zone with sauna, steam room and spa pools under one roof—so you can splash, swim, dive and relax on a single rain-proof afternoon.↗↗
Rebuilt and expanded in 2015 from the old Herøy Fritidsbad, the venue keeps the water at tropical-feeling temperatures and pitches it to everyone: lap swimmers, thrill-seeking kids, toddlers in a waist-deep lagoon, and grown-ups after a steam-and-sauna circuit. It is easy to reach as a short ferry-and-drive trip from Ålesund, and you can even bundle the visit into an overnight stay-and-swim package with the neighbouring Thon Hotel.↗↗

What's in the Water
The centrepiece for serious swimming is the 25-metre competition pool, officially approved for races, held at a brisk 28 °C and ranging from 1.3 to 3.8 metres deep. Beside it, the wave pool lets you ride four different kinds of wave across a floor that slopes from nothing to 1.6 metres in 30 °C water, while a built-in stream channel asks whether you can actually swim against the current—or just float along with it.
