Johnsons Beach
Rosamond Johnson Beach—often simply called Johnson Beach—is the emerald-water swim beach that anchors the Perdido Key area of Gulf Islands National Seashore, on Florida's Panhandle not far from the Alabama line. Set behind sugar-white Gulf sand and a line of scrubby dunes, it pairs a classic Florida beach day with the easy amenities of a well-run national park: shaded pavilions, showers, restrooms and broad parking, all just past a small entrance station. The beach is a natural base for everything that makes Perdido Key appealing—swimming in calm, clear Gulf shallows, beach-combing the tide line, fishing from the water, or following an accessible boardwalk through the dune habitat. Because it sits inside the protected national seashore, the entry fee you pay here goes toward keeping the sand clean, restoring native dune plants and shielding the sea turtles and shorebirds that nest along this stretch of coast.
