Klingender Wanderweg
The Klingender Wanderweg—literally the 'singing walking trail'—is a short, gentle themed path that runs through the beech woods around the Kyffhäuser Monument in Thuringia. Instead of distance records or hard climbs, it offers a charming twist: eight wayside boards carry the verses of old German hiking and homeland songs, inviting you to walk along and, if the mood takes you, sing them out loud. Created on an idea from the Bad Frankenhausen women's choir and opened in June 2016 as part of the 120th-anniversary celebrations of the Kyffhäuser Monument, the trail threads past the Unterburg (lower castle) ruins and through the forest to the great monument tower. Visitors call it easy and family-friendly—a pleasant woodland stroll with a musical, nostalgic theme rather than a demanding hike.
