Lake Ida
Lake Ida is a large, crystal-clear lake in Douglas County, Minnesota, just northwest of the city of Alexandria. Spanning over 4,400 acres with 21 miles of shoreline and depths reaching 106 feet, it is one of the most scenic and rewarding lakes in central Minnesota's Alexandria Lakes Area. What sets Lake Ida apart is the remarkable clarity of its water—visibility frequently exceeds 16 feet, genuinely unusual for a lake this size—and its complex underwater structure that supports an exceptionally diverse fish community. The lake draws anglers, paddlers, and families from the Twin Cities region (about 130 miles southeast) who want a genuine Minnesota lake experience without the crowds of resort-heavy destinations.
