Pico de la Entecada
Pico de la Entecada — known locally in Occitan and Catalan as Era Entecada or Tuc d'Era Entecada, and on the French side as Pic de l'Entécade — is a 2,269-metre summit rising above the western edge of the Val d'Aran, in the municipality of Es Bòrdes, Lleida. It is a classic green, grassy Pyrenean peak rather than a jagged rock horn: steep-sided but rounded, sheathed in meadow and forest almost to the top, and sitting on the frontier ridge that divides Catalonia from the Bagnères-de-Luchon valleys. For walkers it earns its reputation on two things: an easy, non-technical ascent and a superb 360° panorama. From the geodesic vertex on top you look north over Atlantic pastureland toward the Maladeta–Aneto massif and the Perdiguero group, and south over the Val d'Aran, the Artiga de Lin valley and the high wall of the Pyrenean divide. Because it is one of the peaks on the Catalan FEEC '100 cims' list, it draws a steady stream of hikers seeking a rewarding but achievable day out on the border.
