Pura Taman Tanjung
Pura Taman Tanjung is a small but historically significant Hindu temple in the hillside village of Budakeling, Karangasem Regency, eastern Bali. It marks the spot where the legendary priest Danghyang Astapaka established his hermitage in the late 15th century after planting a tanjung-wood staff that grew into a living tree — still standing today. One of the oldest spiritual sites in eastern Bali, the temple is maintained by the descendants of Danghyang Astapaka, a priestly lineage known as Brahmana Buddha. Its story is inseparable from the founding of Budakeling village itself, and its rare 30-year ceremony draws the entire clan together in a powerful display of living tradition.
