Çandarlı Plajı
Çandarlı Plajı is the main beach of a little seaside town on the Çandarlı Bay, in the Dikili district of İzmir's north Aegean coast. It carries an international Blue Flag for clean water and managed facilities, and its signature image is swimmers and sun-loungers set against the towers of Çandarlı Castle rising from the headland behind the sand. What makes it special is the pairing: a genuinely free, family-friendly town beach you can simply walk onto, with a real Genoese-Ottoman fortress and the buried ancient port of Pitane as the backdrop. The town sprawls over a narrow peninsula on the gulf, about 20 km south of Dikili centre and roughly 100 km north of İzmir, so it reads as an easy, uncrowded alternative to the busier resort strips further south.
