Indian Lake
Set on a landscaped hillside in North Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, Indian Lake is a small, pretty 5-acre lake around which the township has built its flagship recreation park. The township itself calls Indian Lake Park the "crown jewel" of its system, and it shows: a paved loop skirts the water, fishing piers reach out over it, and a gazebo, covered bridge and fire pit give the shoreline a park-like charm that feels made for a relaxed afternoon outdoors. It is an easygoing, all-ages spot rather than a wilderness escape. Visitors come to walk, jog or rollerblade the lakeside paths, cast a line from the pier, let kids play on the modern playground and climbing-rock area, or work out at the outdoor fitness stations. With ample parking, benches, picnic tables and multiple comfort stations, it is just as comfortable for a stroller stroll or a family get-together as it is for a quick workout.
