AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Bjännsjön is a small, shallow forest lake in Robertsfors municipality in Västerbotten, northern Sweden, best known locally as a friendly swimming beach. Its long stretch of sand and very gentle depth means the water warms up early in the summer, which is exactly why families with children keep coming back to it.↗↗↗
Beyond the beach, the lake is a quietly productive fishing water set in a woodland catchment, with pike, perch and roach and angling open all year. Tucked a few kilometres back from the village of Åkullsjön and off the road toward Sjulsmark, it is the kind of unhurried inland-lake spot that suits a relaxed afternoon of swimming, a grill lunch and a few casts from the shore.↗↗
A shallow, warm-water swimming lake
The heart of Bjännsjön is its beach: a long, fine sandy shore that the municipality promotes among the best bathing spots in Robertsfors. Because the lake is shallow, the water takes on the summer sun quickly and is warm earlier in the season than deeper neighbouring lakes, making it especially appealing to families with young children wading at the edge.
