AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Standing at the eastern gateway to Alanya on the coastal road toward Mersin, the Hacı Ramazan Sultan Kuş Mosque is a striking example of contemporary Ottoman-inspired religious architecture. Twin minarets rise above a white façade, and a broad central dome crowns a light-filled interior that visitors consistently describe as peaceful and beautifully kept. Though the building itself is new — construction began in 2021 on the site of a demolished older mosque — it has quickly become one of the most appreciated places of worship along this stretch of the Turkish Riviera.↗↗
For travelers driving into or out of Alanya, the mosque offers a calm, photogenic pause just steps from the beach strip. For locals, it is an active community hub where Quran recitations and tafsir (interpretation) lessons take place alongside the five daily prayers. Its exceptionally high visitor rating of 4.8 out of 5 reflects both the quality of the building and the welcome it extends to passing worshippers.↗↗
A New Mosque with Deep Roots
The Hacı Ramazan Sultan Kuş Mosque was built on the same plot in Dinek where the old Merkez Dinek Cami had served the neighborhood for decades. In 2021, the aging original structure was carefully demolished and replaced with a far grander building. The new mosque was named after its chief benefactor, Hacı Ramazan Sultan Kuş — a local figure whose family surname, "Kuş" (Turkish for "bird"), gives the mosque its unusual and memorable name.
